At last Iron Man 3 is available for rent on Amazon Instant Video. Watched last night and while a bit of fun for a Saturday evening, I will give it a 6.5/10 - not as high as other IMDB users. The story was interesting but do they need to make Tony Stark and anxiety attack freak every every few minutes now? He was never like that.

When you watch Iron Man 3 in sequence of the other MCU films it comes straight after the first Avengers, in which he (SPOILERS) goes through the portal into space and sees that there is a whole universe of threats out there that he can't possibly guard against.  And since his whole thing is about protecting the people he loves, and the wider world as a byproduct, he goes through this personal crisis because of it.  Hence the anxiety attacks.  Which doesn't make him a freak (having had anxiety attacks in the past it's no joke), unless you meant freak-out but forgot the word out :).

Mad Max Fury Road.

6/10 to be honest. Original is better.

The score was intrusive, the acting decidedly average. Car bits were fun but repetitive. Went on 30 minutes longer than necessary.

Constantly astounds me how subjective and polarising movies can be.  Reading your comment I find it impossible to think we've seen the same film, but there you have it :)

Age of Adeline 5/10.. Im sure my GF would disagree with that rating though. Found it quite boring and had a very upset girlfriend when the dog in it died
Poltergeist (3D) 6/10..  It was ok.  Not overly scary.  3D was a waste of time as usual.
American Sniper 9/10.. Fantastic movie
Avengers: Age of Ultron 6/10.. Not bad, just not overly exciting.
Mortdecai 3/10.. What total rubbish.
Project Almanac 8/10..

Almost rented Mortdecai on Amazon Instant Video, then saw the star ratings on IMDB and decided to watch Iron Man 3 instead...

Not quite on the same scale, but if your into Mad Max ish stuff, mix in  a bit of the walking dead, and you have Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead.

Aussie film on a bit of a budget, no name actors, cheap sets, but fantastically entertaining and no doubt a bit of a cult hit.  7.5/10 for pure enjoyment factor (if your not too squeamish)

Also gave that one a wide berth.  Shame really as it 'should' be quite good in theory.  I can't get past the trailer and the reviews.  Interested if anyone has actually watched it.

True. The world is a many splendour'd thing.

Apparently, for example, some people actually enjoy films with no aliens, car chases, guns or deaths in them. Weird, huh? I do love those films but that Mad Max one was too long and the music (especially the annoying orchestral stuff) was intrusive and served no purpose. The director also failed to create any sort of suspense - it was hardly in question that Max was going to get where he wanted to go.

Rumour also has it that some people don't like Star Wars. Pfft. What can you do?

There seems to be a trend of late to make films about 30 minutes too long - I have found myself getting that feeling a lot in the last 18 months.

Watched "Good Kill" starring Ethan Hawke and January Jones.

Based on real events, it follows the story of a veteran F-16 pilot who is pulled into the US Drone program conducting missions in Afghanistan (from aircon container based in Nevada), it follows the effects on him psychologically and his family life, as he longs to get back into a plane, and conducts ever increasingly questionable missions for the CIA, blowing away terrorists by day, then going home to BBQ.

Followed up by watching a documentary on the MQ9 Reaper Drone and its new Argus camera, scary stuff, and scary technology that has applications beyond monitoring and killing terrorists.
