There seems to be a trend of late to make films about 30 minutes too long - I have found myself getting that feeling a lot in the last 18 months.

Funny you should say that, I read an article somewhere yesterday with comments from the writer of The Force Awakens (co-writer of Empire and Return too), and he said they're specifically avoiding that problem in VII. Not that they're going to chop it off at 90 mins, but they want to reach a balance where the viewer thinks "oh crap it's over, i really want to see what happens next"... rather than things like The Avengers recently where by halfway through the final act I was checking my watch and thinking "oh boy, gotta go see Ant Man in a few months, meh".

Poltergeist (3D) 6/10.. It was ok. Not overly scary. 3D was a waste of time as usual.
Avengers: Age of Ultron 6/10.. Not bad, just not overly exciting.

I think Poltergeist had all of 2 or 3 scenes worthy of having it in 3D. Agree with both of the above.

Last few movies
Chef - really good, easy to watch
Good Luck Chuck - ok...but Jessica Alba so instantly makes it better
Hunger Game Mockingjay Part 1 - only really watching saw the first 2
Interstella - excellent!!
Europa Report - average - but quite entertaining.
This is 40 - a bit depressing really.
Automata - not bad
Edge of Tomorrow - quite good - like groundhog day.

Does anyone else use Trakt.tv for tracking their watch history?

It's amazing! I use it with XBMC and it tracks my views across all instances without setting up a local MySQL setup. There is also a plugin for Plex, I've asked a few mates to give it a go but haven't heard if it works well with it. My fav is having it sync with Series Guide on Android.

Sorry for going off topic but definitely recommend it to all.

I just watched Kung Fury, it's action comedy film that's styled as an over the top 80s martial arts action movie. It had me laughing the whole way through and I would recommend you watch it. You can watch it for free on YouTube, it was uploaded by the creators since it was funded through kickstarter.

Watched "Chappie", felt like I was watching a 1.5 hour promo video for Die Antwood, with cameo appearances from Sigourny Weaver, Hugh Jackman and the Indian guy from the Marigold Hotel franchise.

Had its funny moments, but wasn't worth the $16.99US I paid on mGo.

Took the kids to Tomorrowland..... had potential. But , it is a movie where the trailer is way better than the main event.

It is a mess of loose ends, unexplained events, and weirdness.

And, why did it have to push a social agenda? Why couldnt they just have made it fun?

Watched a doco yesterday called Deep Web. Very highly recommend anyone on here to watch it. Very interesting look at the deep web website Silk Road and what happened to the guy that created it. Went and saw San Andreas in 3D yesterday . I give it 10/10 for special effects and about 9 / 10 for plausibility of a major earthquake along the San Andreas fault line in our lifetime though the USGS says it would be a max of about 8.5 not 9.6 as in the movie. Story line 5/10 . All told an expensive exercize for two people but a good yarn. About $60 for tickets and icecreams.

Saw Kingsmen - Secret Service on the weekend - gave it a 8/10. Thoroughly enjoyable film, plenty of laughs and high caliber actors poking fun at the genre. Samuel L Jackson was superb! Quite violent in parts but the story/plot was a bit different than the usual spy flick and was quite an interesting take. I am very hopeful there will be a sequel at some stage!

$20 each for 3D tickets and glasses, $10 each for ice creams. Sounds about right. I've often wondered, if the prices for movie food were slightly more based in reality, wouldn't they sell a crapload more of it?

Saw Spy with the mrs. 8/10 - its a funny pisstake of the Bond/Bourne type movies. Very sweary, and Statham does a great, hugely over-the-top parody of himself. "See this arm, it was torn of and sewed back on again. By this arm!"
Basically a mash-up of Bridesmaids and the Get Smart remake.
