Because it won't happen or because you don't care if they change the name?

Because I'm not that invested in the name.

I played football at U18 level for NZ and never wore white...we wore beige and brown.

For me it's NZ Football or the NZ National Men's Football Team. - not really that bothered about the "All Whites" name, but I do see why people are upset. It's the thought of ultimate wokeness finding offence in a name that is simply a descriptor.

That actually makes me smile...and it's a small thing in the grand scheme of things, so this is definitely the right thread for this one!

They are trying to replicate the branding success of All Blacks. It's silly we have Black Sox, Black Sticks, White Sticks. Just call our Teams like Aotearoa Football or New Zealand Hockey etc etc

That pretty much covers all French teams, not specific to their football team.

„Les Bleus“ is the national French Team only representing France in international matches. If you check the historical car and air races, you will find this specific color as well … as the Brits have their British racing green and Germans their arrow-silver ;-)

I think the thing that might lead the name to be kept is that it is an obvious reference to the strip. The name would be in trouble if they were known as the caucasian colonials.

I think the thing that might lead the name to be kept is that it is an obvious reference to the strip. The name would be in trouble if they were known as the caucasian colonials.

I mean, if you look at the makeup of the team, it's not like they are perpetrating a racist theme by only recruiting whites. It's so obviously about the playing strip. Even though they often play in their second strip which is black.

This is why names are silly for national sports teams. Just call them what they are. Men's National Football Team.

The pod of orcas that came into Pauatahanui Inlet today. Rather crappy photos sorry, they didn't come very close to the shore, but it was a delightful experience

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

They were still there this morning and a lot closer to the shore. Managed to get some slightly better shots.
