Both parties in a transaction need to get value, not just the customer. If you don’t bring value to a business you are worthless as a customer so not worth dealing with.

Not confusing anything. Americans know the customer is king. The value is having a customer at all. Businesses should be grateful.

you've certainly confused something

You mean the companies that got "enshittification" added to dictionaries, and even got it voted word of the year by the Macquarie Dictionary?

Americans are an entitled bunch abusing return policies all over the place.

The point is that over time companies start providing less valuable services while making it hard for people to cancel their contracts, or overall a worst product than before.

This process is called "enshitification".

An example of enshitifcation is companies adopting "dark patterns".

For instance, a dark pattern is companies making it hard for a user to cancel a service, either by hiding the CANCEL link and making it hard to find or in some cases only allowing cancellations over the phone. Or asking for a credit card before starting a trial, in the assumption that the user will either forget to cancel the trial before it's finished or think it's too hard to cancel.

Crappy design of the charging connections on Galaxy Buds FE. They are good wireless earbuds for the price but it’s a crapshoot whether they charge when you put them in the case.

Enshittification & monopoly/cartel practices go firmly hand in hand.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

I think we are all on the same side here. I am just saying I don't like certain business practices. I think everyone else is saying the same. The only difference is where you draw that line.

I find that on all pogo pin based ones. Its like the designers never thought that people would get dust and skin and other stuff onto a product that touches the body.

The fact that either chip companies or the supermarkets that carry their wares have decided there's more demand for Clam and Terbaccy chips than salt and vinegar.

That manufacturers insist on slapping superglued labels over the bottom of plastic containers, making it impossible to see the recycling number.
