Did a big shop, milk, meat, salmon etc yesterday evening. This morning found that the fridge had been propped open all night. It got caught on something sticking out. Shut door and don’t want to think about it.

Fridge can be not so bad - freezer can be worse.

Our freezer got caught open a touch overnight a few weeks ago.
It overcompensated and effectively blasted a hoar-frost across the open doorway.

Warm, old fish bait ... 🤢

About three weeks after Cyclone Tracey flattened Darwin, some Australian Navy crew were tasked with clearing an industrial area in Darwin town. They discovered this included a couple of storage sheds formerly kept frozen but without power for three weeks, that contained sea food, mostly prawns. You cannot imagine the stench 🤮🤮🤮
Fairly quickly, they decided the only way to do it was to treat it as a full NBCD (Nuclear Biological & Chemical Defence) contamination exercise. They found out a lot about the effectiveness & usability of NBCD protection gear in a tropical environment.

My sister's boyfriend at the time was a junior officer on the ship concerned, and got up close & personal with the whole disgusting situation. Sometimes Defence Force people are heroes in unexpected ways.

From a report on problems with a freight depot at Denver airport when it first opened:

They hired hundreds of university students to clamber about the six-story warehouse to identify just what was where.  The tons of frozen liver that had not been placed in a refrigerated section were found in a few days.  It took much longer to find the corpses in their coffins.

PBTech's "frequently bought together".

Needed a new battery for a motion sensor. Searched for said sensor on their site, saw it paired with batteries so used that as the guide and went and bought them.

Wrong size.

EDIT: And was so confident, didn't ask for a receipt.

Never leave a shop without a receipt. Don't want to be accused of shoplifting by overzealous security.

If they give you the option of no receipt they have no right to be asking for one. Just walk on by and say no thanks, I'm ok.

Might change with this stupid new law but for now just ignore the requests at the door if they bother you.

I left my fridge unplugged for a couple of weeks during the Xmas holidays, so that the condenser could unclog. So far it hasn't leaked again, though the fridge door sometimes needs extra force to open. Maybe it's a door seal issue?

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Unless wide open, should be fine.

Doesn’t your fridge beep if left open?

Air NZ Chat.

I am likely impacted by Cyclone Alfred in upcoming travel. AirNZ have said I can change my outbound flight with no penalties or costs, I wanted to know if I could my AU departure date by the same number of days I am delayed leaving by. 1 hour and still no answer that tells me for sure.

All they wanted to do was credit the flight, but the return flights are now almost double and then some.

Receiving a fine for $150 in the mail for using a T2 lane on the North Shore, when the driver (my son) was alone.

Annoying because I will have to go through the dubious disputes process, as the T2 only operates from 4-6pm and the "offence" occurred at 6.19pm...

It's a second fridge in the laundry and yes it does have a very soft beep but once the laundry door is closed and me being hard of hearing, couldn’t hear a thing.

It would be nice if they made beepers that you can turn up to a loud screech according to your hearing ability or distance to living area, especially when there’s a freezer attached. It’s not only the cost, but the hellish mess you need to sort if not found early.

If the ticket says 6:19pm then it sounds like a bulletproof defense - you should be able to just write this in and be done with it. More fool them if they drag this to a court dispute and get smacked by the judge.
