Buying something on Trade me that the seller offered to me for $46 and I accepted. The original buy now was $55. Then texting me she wanted $85 after  I contacted her by phone to arrange pick up address. Chatting I had learned she was an 80 yr old from a country where haggling is the norm. When I refused, she dropped it to $75. Texted her back to keep it. Can’t be bothered with people that are dishonest. I believe in karma and won’t add stress to myself entering into an argument or wasting more time. It’s the first time this has ever happened to me on TM.

Most people are fantastic and a few times I’ve actually paid more than the won price when I felt the auction price was unfairly low only because no one else happened to bid.

Aside from an auction being a legally binding contract, I don't think she's doing the haggling thing correctly anyway.

If she offered it at one price and you accepted, then the only counter offer should be from you, not her countering herself.  I would suggest reporting it to TM if you can be bothered but it's unlikely they'll do much since they long ago stopped caring about anything that happens on their site.

I believe Trade Me adopted the strategies taught at the Zuckerberg School of Enshitification some time ago.

Ordered a $30 reading light on AliExpress which was specc'd for 95 CRI.
(More expensive than other listings due to being branded as great CRI)
Arrived and colours are washed out, manual states 75 CRI.

Challenged the sale as goods don't meet description, screenshot of listing, photo of manual clearly showing 75 CRI.
Challenge 100% declined with "insufficient evidence".
Challenged this decision with new screenshot and photo and declined again.

Bizarrely I had another order on its way for 3 items from Ali all had been shipped.
A day after the refund these were all listed as 'returning to sender' and I was refunded.

Coincidence?? Probably not. Scummy bastards.

Facebook I hate and will never have it again. But what really annoys me today is restaurants / takeaway places etc that use FB to list their menu or updates to their menu!

You go to their FB page and you can see maybe a few recent posts or bugger all before FB asks you to login. Pointless.

I remember back during Covid, I tried to order sushi online. I clicked on "start order" and was met with a blank white screen. I tried it again later, same thing. After getting curious I looked at what it was doing: something with a Facebook API, and absolutely zero fallback for people who don't use Facebook!

I find that FB pages quite often don't work in firefox but will in chrome. Some businesses have a website with basic info but then direct you to FB for menu details. Which ends up getting quite fragmented with 100's of updates. All you want is a PDF of the menu. How hard is that to provide! So I'm now going to have to physically call in to my local pub to check out the menu for a planned dinner as it changes like the tides.

I have also encountered that kind of thing, even with my (former) electricity provider. I do not have a Facebook account as a matter of principle and I never have. Businesses or (god forbid!) government departments or quasi-official agencies that rely on Facebook for user contact should be drawn and quartered and sent straight to hell!

Trying to get a park near work for a client lunch.

Got to the work carpark, where we have a number of unallocated (but reserved for our company) parking spaces. None left.
Drove around for about half an hour  - possibly more - looking for a park at several carparks and on-street. Nothing. Not even in the highrise carpark.
Ended up not going to the client lunch, but thankfully my colleagues were able to step up and go as planned.

It was a waste of over an hour of my time and embarrassing to boot.

The fact that any amount of software running on a 2048x1536 or whatever display opens up a tiny little postage-stamp sized dialog that you either have to scroll through for five minutes to get to what you want or resize it every single time one pops up to be able to see what's there.  To see this, at least under Windows, do a file open or file save.  And that's just the standard encountered-a-dozen-times-a-day dialogs, they're everywhere.

I've been sent an item (a tracker tag) from AE that was flat out different in spec (inferior) to what was advertised and unsuitable. I attempted the AE dispute process but was basically told to get lost.

There's no safety in AE purchases. You may get sent the the wrong thing and that's just tough luck. I've avoided it since then.

Was it ordering a "tile" tracker and getting some generic POS with some app noone has heard of?
