alasta:

A couple of years ago I tried to get them to forward a small FM radio that I ordered from the UK. They refused as it contained a lithium ion battery.

I imagine the same would occur with any type of rechargeable connected watch.

If it is from the UK then you're restricted but if you're ordering a phone from the USA then you shouldn't have any issues - I ordered a Pixel 4 XL and it was delivered no problems. The bigger problem I have is the $2000 upper limit - I would be ok if there was "the insurance is only up to $2000, anything more than that then you're on your own" but unfortunately YouShop doesn't allow for that.

Ordered a couple of t shirts I couldn't get locally from the states via Majestic Athletic. First one arrived with a delivery of $20(expected). Then the 2nd with a delivery of $55, gutted.

Wish me luck for requesting a repack, they used to do this automatically but seems there are a lot of rules around it now.

Out of interest with the upcoming Prime Day and the possibility of buying and sending devices with batteries in them (like phones or smart watches) does anybody know if Youshop still has any restrictions on sending devices with batteries that cannot be removed?

What other choices are there/

I just bought a cellphone from Amazon and they will be charging me US$15 to ship to me, presumaby by air.

The same question applies. What is the best way to send a phone back.

I’ve been using fishisfast.com. Really fast service, items are always well packaged. Looks like they ship phones too having quick glance at their help section.

No luck with the repack but they at least did a resize and dropped the charge from 55 to 45. Will be interesting see the size of this bag with a single t shirt in it.

just set up an account with them and asked about sending phones and they said they did. Might give them a try.

UPDATE - asked their CS team and they said they ship phones. Just confirming your experiences have been good?

Can somebody deode this message from Youshop about sending phones?

We can advise that some electronic items containing lithium-ion batteries can be sent through YouShop. A lithium-ion battery must not exceed 20 Wh/cell, or 100 Wh per battery pack. Stand-alone batteries cannot be sent

Phone batteries are typically rated  like 3700 mAh.

So to convert to their Wh do I need to work out that the voltage drawn is either 12V or 7.5V the normal outupt of a USB charger and calculate that the Wh of the battery is 3700 * 12 /1000 = 44 Wh or 3700  * 7.5/1000 = 27.75 Wh?

Phone batteries will be a single-cell lithium cell, you can assume a nominal voltage of 3.7v.

3.7 * (mAh / 1000) = Wh

That falls under the Wh limit but alas I am looking at shipping a phone that is repaired and Youshop will no send any used phones.

I have one package with YouShop which got caught up in the supply chain snarls last year. Ended up getting shipped, then returned to the warehouse after a month as the sea freight option got cancelled, and now appears to be in some kind of purgatory where it's "ready to ship" but never leaves the warehouse!

I've given up on youshop. Current conditions notwithstanding they've lost the plot in terms of customer service. The last two items I shipped I used Shipito and it was easy plus they are more flexible in terms of phones

They lost me after telling me that they would send phones and tablets from retailers and then telling me that they wouldn't send my amazon ones because they were "refurbished" ones.

This is their list of restrictions

and used or refurbished are not allowed to be shipped.

To quote

All used electronics with li-ion/rechargeable batteries are not permissible for Air/Sea Freight under the regulations.

The risk of a used phone by air is somewhat remote but by sea is almost as likely as winning the Lotto. Not that sea is an option now.
