Behodar:

Kit Kat seems to have a "thing" for putting "share" on packaging. A little 60(?) gram bar has "share bar" printed on it. Who in the world is going to share that?!

As a child my mother insisted my siblings and I share everything equally... if I brought home one of even the smallest chocolate bars (e.g. from a birthday party or something), we would divide it into four pieces using a sharp knife. Or six, if our parents wanted a bit too.

Heres one that is really annoying me... Putting a GU10 lamp into a recessed holder. You would think with those angled corners on the lamp it would end up aiming straight for the holes and be simple, but no. Even with the suction cup on the front its a frustrating task.

My parents had that too as kids.  When they had e.g. some sort of pudding in a bowl to share my uncle would eat his portion and then undermine everyone else's around his one so he got several portions at once.

Having what feels like Covid, but as tests now cost $$, I am not testing and just have to assume I have the C-Virus.

Been feeling pretty rubbish all week, but no cold or traditional flu symptoms. Doctor could see me some time next week, if urgent...

So...I'm calling it Covid and isolating, while still working from home

I wonder if this forced sharing that became a thing is responsible for all the entitled adults now that want other peoples stuff?

Posters here who write a long paragraph as their thread title when a few words would suffice. They have the title covering everything that would normally be in the opening post.

Maybe GZ should have a number of characters limit for titles.

"This call may be recorded for training purposes."

The call is answered by a person with English as a second language.

You advise them that you are having problems understanding them as you have a hearing impairment, but they continue speaking as before.

Does anyone ever listen to the recordings to actually do any training?

Only if they have a complaint. That disclaimer is so that they can keep and play the recording in training materials etc.

I had a job where during the multi-week training period we had there was comment that they used to use the recordings for part of the training sessions.  Due to the sensitivity of it, I suspect that no one will admit that their employer is using those recordings but I’m sure they will be. It also generally means that you could request a copy of the recording.

As to what to do if you strike that again, just repeat that you’re sorry but you’re still struggling to understand what they’re saying (“I’m hard of hearing and this is a bad line”) and ask if they can transfer you to someone else that could help.

I really hate deceptive websites like Beds4U

They use "bait-and-switch" advertising. they advertise an item at an unusually low price to attract customers (the "bait"). However, when you try to purchase the item, you are informed that it is unavailable or sold out. They then attempts to upsell you a higher-priced product.

I'll be complaning to the Commerce Commission in New Zealand,

At the top of their website it says "Store Clearout Sale | QUEEN Mattress for $299"

But even taking into account adding GST, and just the mattress alone, there's no Queen size bed near that price.

However the cheapest one they have is $391.

Also you can filter on just Queen size beds, maximum $365 price. But the filter maximum uses the single price, not the queen price.

In each case the starting price listed in the single price.

$284 – $711. The low price is for single. The queen is sold out, and was $427
$307 – $629. Lowest queen price is $391
$325 – $795. Lowest queen price is $445

Woolworths only sells 50mm sink plugs.

They are to big for all my plugs, don’t know if a standard or not but if most plug holes are same size then will be useless to most people.

Managed to get a double pack at Warehouse which had 50mm and a smaller one. 50mm didn’t fit any plug hole so threw it out, the smaller one worked perfectly.

Only small thing as was able to source elsewhere, but strange Woolworths stocks a limited use product and not one that will work in more set ups if they used smaller suction type one.

Selling an embedded controller board on TM, this ships from the manufacturer without any firmware loaded so I flash the firmware onto it to avoid the 95% chance the buyer will claim it's faulty when they get it and it won't even boot, and list it as new, with manufacturer firmware loaded ready to go.  The buyer rejects it on the basis that it's no longer straight-from-the-factory new.

The fact that NZ and UK are countries separated by a common language.

We recently sold a vehicle.

During the negotiations, I agreed that I would “accept $x for cash”. This is a common British idiom stemming from the time when cheques were common. Now, it really means “for a quick sale’.

The buyers arrived to inspect and collect the vehicle, handed me a significant sum in cash and apologised for not being able to get the rest in cash due to withdrawal limits at the bank.

I’m using the money to replace the vehicle, but if I try and use the cash I’m going to get pinged because they have to report the transaction.

It never occurred to me that they might take the idiom as a literal statement!

^^ I don’t interpret ‘cash’ as meaning ‘for a quick sale'.

Well given cheques are almost extinct I'd assume that you'd wanted actual cash too. I wouldn't worry about it. A one of deposit isn't going to really concern anyone, especially if they see another transaction at Toyota, Bob's Used Car Emporium etc. The last couple of cars I've sold have been for cash. It's annoying mostly because it generally means a visit to bank or an ATM to deposit it. It also avoids a risk element for both too. Oh I'll put it in your account, you do, it's not instant and then you pick the car up the next day and hope the car and seller hasn't vanished.
