I was about to say "What happened to the blue Aim?" but then I scrolled down!

Wait till you try to find a toothpaste that is not mint floavoured - there are 10s of ones that all have loads of big meaningless words on them and nothing about the most important thing, the flavour in it.

Also if you look at e.g. the enamel-repair range from Colgate you'll see that they're all the same thing.  A whole range of different colours and brandings, but all the same product.

(This has been an issue for a long time in the US where a major brand will manspread as widely as possible to deny shelf space to anyone else, sad to see it happening here too).

"What happened to the blue Aim?"

If you're careful with your aim you won't need the blue aim (assuming that's a cleaning product).

The vans and camper vans (small and big ones) are back! Every time I hit SH1 I get stuck behind one that has a top speed of 70km.

And this morning had a run in with a camper camped on the beach car park. Their little yapper dog was left outside and came aggressively barking (in bite range) at me!

I had a dog with me so I made it quite clear come at my dog and face the consequences. Coffee has made me less grumpy.

Unless you have it all on video just walk away. Your dog will be accused of being the aggressor and you'll be arguing vet bills

So why didn't you bite it? 😀

“This update contains performance improvements and bug fixes”

it really should be mandatory for app developers to provide more details with app updates. I wasn’t experiencing any bugs or performances issues with the current version, why should I update the app? Give me more information!

I often wonder if it's just virtue-signalling and nothing has been done to the app at all. Makes it look like they're agile and able to pivot to enhance their value proposition by engaging in synergistic deep-dive benchmarking as a thought leader -  when in reality they've done FA. It's like free advertising and keeps the app's name to the fore.

I don't just do updates because they exist, I wait till I see something that I care about in them or its forced on me when there is no information. No point possibly getting degraded features they call an "upgrade" and not being able to roll back.

Its different for security things but often updates are fixing weird edge cases that are not a problem so why risk it?

Having worked on software I can see why this is sometimes required, otherwise you get things like (to give a recent example) a three-paragraph description of an incredibly obscure bug that's been present for at least 15 years without ever being triggered, and I still have no idea how the person who reported it managed to find it, so it was purely a cosmetic fix.  Same with performance improvements, "added code to recognise values with certain special properties and implemented short-circuit evaluations for those cases which occur when [three paragraphs of description omitted]".

The problem with Signal's neverending churngrades is that Signal stops working if you don't keep churning.

I don't recall any churngrade adding anything to the app since I've installed it.

That is hard when the dog is coming at you! I was doing that anyways. And my dog was hiding behind my legs and only a threat to tripping me. LOL

My favourite word in all languages is: circumnavigate. It has often taken effort, but it has taken me far on several levels of life without losing sight of my goals, giving up my values or even betraying others (even if they tried). I am grateful and proud of it.

Why is this under this heading? Think about it.

- NET: FTTH & VDSL, OPNsense, 10G backbone, GWN APs
- SRV: 12 RU HA server cluster, 0.1 PB storage on premise
- IoT:   thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D:    two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter
