Although even august tomes like The Daily Telegraph in London are not immune these days, it seems. This from today:

"Was Amber Heard secretly seeing Cara Delevingne?"

Who? Never heard of them.

To be fair to Stuff those are both pretty well known celebrities. Amber Heard was married to Johnny Depp, and was in the news lots for smuggling her dogs into Australia, and Cara Delevingne is one of most famous models in the world.

DarthKermit: New Zealand roads kill 11 during long weekend

Yeah that one - really? We have sentient roads now? Surely they'd do better than the drivers then

<- don't ask me where I am - I haven't a clue: its a tech thing ;)
Housewife computerer: not particularly great at either.
And don't take me too seriously.

I have a mental picture of some happy motorist driving along the road innocently; then the road rears up, forms a 50 foot tall monster (covered in tarseal) as only a Hollywood FX movie could do, which proceeds to stomp on said happy motorist killing him or her. yell

If the deaths are directly attributable to defects in the roads then the headline would be OK. But it seems unlikely that 11 of 11 deaths would fall into that category.

A couple of decades ago there was a lot of emphasis on rectifying road problems that could lead to accidents. This included changing markings, adding barriers, correcting poor camber, improving drainage, etc. So I expect that this should be less of an issue today.

Much more accurate I'd say.

Not until the causes have been unequivocally proven to be the fault of the motorists.  Mechanical failure, road conditions and probably a multitude of other things could have caused or contributed to the accidents.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

If we really want to be accurate, and we have ruled out mechanical, environmental or other as causes, then

1) Drunk/incompetent drivers killing only themselves commit suicide

2) Drivers who overtake into oncoming trucks etc commit second degree murder/suicide

3) Drivers who kill their passengers, passers-by, other motorists etc also commit second degree murder
