I feel your pain. We are with Kiwibank, and if things weren't so complicated I'd change to a 'real' bank. All of the things that made them attractive at the start are gone, and left behind is all the fees and expense of a 'real' bank, with none of the service, standards, or behaviours of a real bank.

If it's any comfort, we're with a "real bank" and it's equally frustrating. Service has gone seriously downhill.

The retail price of furniture at The Warehouse. I get annoyed every time I'm in the furniture section.

This beside is on sale for $186 (100% MDF)

Living & Co Waipoua 2 Drawer Bedside Table | The Warehouse

Try looking at their prices for home office furniture!!
3 drawer unit for next to or under the desk: https://www.warehousestationery.co.nz/product/W2213641.html#prefn1=colour&prefv1=White&srule=price-low-high&start=1&sz=24

$237! Absolutely insane - same thing elsewhere is $99 or secondhand in perfect condition for $20.

It's probably 15+ years since Kiwibank was 'good', the same way they were when they first opened. There is really no hope for them now, unless there is a total change of leadership, in my view

I'm barely hanging on with KB and for only one reason - have had the same banker with them since the day I joined them back in 2016. Once he's gone I'm gone. There was another reason and that was their AirNZ card had the best combination of APD and Status earn and you could purchase APD. That's now gone.

I have absolutely no problems with KB as a banking provider, I'm a 'Foundation Customer' and they've always been able to do what I need, but the loss of Air NZ points on my Visa card is going to make a big difference.

I'll drop back from an Airpoints Visa Platinum to a Visa Zero and save myself and cost them a few dollars a month in fees.
I might get a different bank's card (Westpac Airpoints Platinum Mastercard looks the most attractive just now), or I'll just stop buying my groceries, petrol, etc. on my credit card and flag the whole Airpoints thing.

TSB. They really are useless. They are threatening to close our accounts because we haven't supplied some KYC crap that was emailed to them 3 weeks ago. Everytime KYC is a crap shoot with these clowns.

Oh good. Going through a password reset results in a message "Success.  You've successfully reset your password and you can now login." with no idea what the password has been reset to. God they are useless.

At least their complaints page works. “I” (on behalf of Mrs Handle) filed a complaint to get this resolved. It got fixed in 24 hours. It’s frustrating that every couple of years there is some sort of nonsense like this with their KYC system. It never goes smoothly.

I still have a KB account and credit card and have generally found them good. We had our mortgage with them for years and they were great. We only left because they were really uncompetitive in 2017 when we bought our current house.

I was extremely disappointed with them around 5 years ago when we tried to move our mortgage back to them. We got all the way through the process and then got declined with no explanation. Follow up requests for an explanation got ghosted. Having the mortgage declined was disappointing but somewhat understandable as our salaries etc are all paid overseas but no explanation was incredibly frustrating.

I’d put a lot of time into the application as they needed a lot of explanation of our taxable income (we don’t pay income tax) and supporting information. Being ghosted really pissed me off and was totally unprofessional.

That’s poor. I understand why they’d decline as they’re so rigid and there’s zero discretion but they should have followed up with you. That’s just basic respect.

It was really strange. I've always had positive interactions with them, even when we moved the mortgage from them. They were really straightforward about what they could and could not do and not at all shitty when we changed mortgage providers.

I really don't have a problem with companies who do or don't want to deal with me. They have a business to run and need to choose customers who suit them. I have a real problem with companies who won't communicate in this type of circumstance.

Did that coincide with any of the Covid disruption in 2020? You refer to them when it could come down to an individual

Nope, February 2020 so pre-covid.

I couldn't care less whether it came down to an individual, the individuals represent the organisation and are the ones who provide the customer experience.

I was a long-time customer of National Bank when it got swallowed up by the inferior ANZ. Since then I've switched to Co-operative Bank and never looked back.

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Every time our rural power hiccoughs, like now in high winds, all the sensor lights come on and stay on. I have to go around to each one and switch it off again, then wait a few seconds before switching it on to reset it. This is annoying.

I have the grid connect smart ones. Everytime they get powered off they revert to default settings which is stupidly short on time, and super sensitive. I have to go into the app and change the settings from what its on to something else, and then back to what I want it to be so they stay on for a decent time and are not stupidly sensitive to the point that the cats trigger them.

The ridiculous euphemism “water related incident”.
