Everyone's insistence on using the Snipping Tool to crop the URL and clock out of their screenshot every time they report an issue.

This is super annoying. Especially people who snip a grid of seemingly random numbers and tell me they look wrong. If they had snipped just a little higher I would know which report they are looking at...

Someone (anyone) being offered $450M to kick a ball around some grass.

I love sport, but this is the very definition of insanity.

Top professional sportspeople and the amounts they are paid is insane.

All sports - not just football/basketball/NFL etc.

It is until you see the amount of revenue professional sports generate. The atheletes get that money because they are quite literally the product generating that revenue.

The same could be said for everyone else involved - including the broadcasters/crews/coaches/physios/office workers etc.

They are paid significantly less and yet without them, the revenue dies.

I'm guessing it's all to do with accounting and different buckets of money.  I don't understand it when you see this:

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/sport/542882/manchester-united-to-cut-jobs-bonuses-and-free-lunches-to-restore-profits

yet the players payroll looks like this:

https://www.spotrac.com/epl/manchester-united-fc/payroll

with Carlos Casimiro at the top getting paid an annual salary of GBP18,200,000

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Those people can be easily replaced on the open market by people who are just as good with no revenue impact. There are a finite number of top players and if you don’t have enough of them you don’t win. Winning drives profitability.

These are large businesses behaving in their own best interests not community clubs. If they could pay less they would. I’m happier to see the money go to employees than the club owners make bigger profits.

This fits here and in the WTF thread.

The NZ Herald added a widget to read aloud whatever paragraph you click on.

I like clicking on a paragraph to mark where I'm reading.

Good grief. A lot of people read like that, which would indicate that they didn't bother to do any testing. And, of course, anyone who needs TTS is going to already have it set up and won't be using the promotional widget in the first place.

Dynamix UPSG1000 SafeGuard 1000VA/600W Line Interactive UPS

The UPS is split into always-one surge protectors, and switched UPS power points. It has a tiny display on top, that you can only read while looking straight down at it.

The tiny display is split, and it always shows something in the left side
... BUT ...
the UPS power points are off until you press the power button on top. Then a lightbulb icon appears on the right, and its both sides are on.

If you're not paying attention you can plug devices into right-side surge protector ports, which are always on, even if the left-side UPS power points are turned off.

Then you're left scratching your head why the UPS didn't activate on a power outage.

The power switch should turn off all power points and display, to make its state more obvious.

Also some color coding on the surge protector side and UPS side would have been a nice touch. Instead it has tiny print at the bottom. Perhaps UPS-protected outlets: dark blue or bright red, and a battery symbol. Surge-only outlets: Light Gray or White.

Otherwise OK.

At the very least they should have the option to turn it on/off, as with autoplay videos. Though it's all small beer compared with the NZH's potential Murdochisation under Grenon & Joyce.

For news sites years ago on wide I developed a habit of clicking on the right or left whitespace to make the scrollbar active after navigation or something like that so I could use the arrow keys to scroll. I had to gain control of that habit quickly when sites began filling that whitespace with ads making that region clickable.

Trying to buy some software but want to check a contradiction in what it includes.

The demo version says one thing and the site to buy it says another!

Only form of contact is a webform with a bleedin Captcha, which I tick etc, click submit and you are sent back to the form.

Rinse and repeat for Chrome or Edge.

It obviously isn't working because I have not received a reply!

Sheesh and I want to give them some money too!

A few months after leaving the fridge turned off over the summer break, it starts leaking again. Still getting the intermittent sticky door when opening. Is it a rubber sealing issue?

Trading a phone in on a new one at One.NZ - A fairly straightforward process, but a slightly flawed one.
The "One Wallet" (mine had $500ish in it after calculating the trade-in value of my son's old iPhone 11) was applied to the interest free deal, but the advertised $300 off if taking up an interest free offer was an "either/or" option - despite there being no clear indication of that anywhere.

It's hidden deep in the T's & C's - it should be prominent and easy to understand. I very nearly walked away, but as my son neededa  new iPhone and he was paying for it, we went ahead with it.

It's effectively made the iPhone $300 more expensive than originally estimated, but as we were using some credit given to us in my One Wallet anyway, it largely evened itself out.
