Being ripped off. That really annoys me.
$32 for fish and chips.

Please name and shame as I'd like to avoid ever making the same mistake of entering that establishment and expecting a fulfilling meal worthy of the price.

$32 at the local F&C shop would feed a family.

Happily.
Good George on North Wharf in Auckland.
The staff were great, the food tasty and the beer moist, but as you can see - the portion size was appalling.

And also more chips, and more fish.

The salad/slaw element looks about right though.

After all, it is fresh parsley, not dried. 😉

How did you handle this at the time - in the restaurant?

What does it matter? OP was annoyed, that's what this thread is for, they aren't asking for a solution.

I understand the sentiment but $32 dollars likely wouldn't feed the average family of four at a fish n chip shop these days. Here in New Plymouth, fish of the day will set you back $6.50 a piece (usually warehou), a scoop of chips $6. Both the fish and the scoop of chips are about 2/3 of the size that they used to be. Just to feed myself would be almost $20 - $30 alone, depending on how hungry I was.

Unfortunately, fish is now almost a luxury food.

Would easily do it at ours.

You'd get 4 Fish, 4 crab sticks, 4 potato fritters (more likely about 7 or 8) and a good pile of chips.

You don’t think it’s relevant or interesting whether he just ate it without discussion or complaint and then posted here after the event?

Without chips that would be $42.80 at my local. Two scoops of chips would take it up to almost $55. This is just a typical local chippy, some are a bit cheaper, some are more expensive. Perhaps they charge a premium because they're in the old KFC building. A nostalgia surcharge.

And I have no reason to believe the local chippy is getting rich either. We have a high cost environment.

A great number of them employ family members using questionable labour practices too. Many takeaway places probably couldn't operate otherwise.

There's a site that emails a 1-time code for login that I use regularly for work. It expires after 5mins. What annoys me, it always takes 6mins for the email to arrive.

Time to log a ticket with IT.

To be honest, as we were in a party of around 10 people and we'd organised the venue this time around (it's an annual gathering of old friends) I was just embarrassed and didn't say anything at the time - I also wasn't asked at any point by the staff if I had enjoyed my meal, whether I had any feedback or whether there was anything they could have done to enhance my dining experience.

They did suggest a tip on the EFTPOS machine though - to which I immediately responded "NO".

What really annoys the crap out of me lately is I have one business I do work for where every email I send one of their staff members they send me back a friggin thumbs up..  Like can you not please?!?

Its fantastic when you get 10 of them all replying with a thumbs up while your in the middle of another job, of course not all at once either.... Nothing quite like an email chain of 100+ emails with half being thumbs up...

Unless something isnt working correctly I really dont want or need a reply.
