$135 !
You must not be one of those people who check the price of items before ordering them. Each to his own!
You seem to be missing the point.
Without going to a big city I've managed to find an Indian restaurant in Palmerston North that hits mid $30 for some mains but closer to Raumati there are several low $20 range. Reviews are opinions at best, faked at worst but they all have menus you can check before going.

The destination drive itself has never showed any sort of issues in the past, although it's possible that it's beginning to fail. The other possibility - which I'm thinking might be more likely - is just that Apple's ExFAT driver can't handle big files very well (normally the sorts of files I copy aren't this big). I might try re-copying the file from my Windows machine and see what happens.
In case anyone was wondering (ha...), I reformatted the drive under Windows and copied the file successfully in ~10 minutes. When formatting I was able to choose an allocation unit size, and since the drive is only for videos I picked the largest, 32 MB. That will hopefully make things faster in the future.

Exhibit 3658 of why “premium” German car brands no longer make objectively premium cars or provide premium experiences. It’s more and more aspirational marketing and less and less anything really special.
It’s really no wonder the German car industry is in the toilet. It’s very sad.
I dunno, I still consider my car pretty premium. I love driving it, I love being in it. 5 Years on, I still smile almost every time I get in it. Overall my experience has been very good, I'd buy another, but the gap has closed I'll admit. The BYD Seal Performance is an outstanding car for the money.
But my experience with the dealer has been... disappointing.
Speaking of BYD...

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Not necessarily small and annoying but I need a winge.
We went out for a meal tonight. The place was nothing special but is highly rated online.
We shared a main to start, then each had a main, a naan and a beer.
$135 !
We don't mind paying for quality, but the curry really wasn't anything we couldn't do at home (we're pretty adept at curries) and there was only 4 or 5 pieces of meat in each dish.
The service was ok, we were pretty much left alone the whole meal, and we walked out, looked at each other and said, did that really just cost $135?
Apologies for the thread drift but… had dinner at Junoon at Orakei Village last night followed by the F1 movie. The food was delicious, the staff delightful. There are licenced byo so you can take a bottle of wine and they charge a small corkage fee. 2 Entrée 2 mains, naan, glass of beer, class of wine came to $135 for two so the same!
Transferred money into Wise this morning via ASB. Nothing arrived as yet.

I dont think they do the transfers on weekends....
<Edit...autocorrect...sigh>
On the hospo vibe, I find it infuriating to go into a bar, approach the bar and find the bar staff too busy chit chatting to attend to me. I am a mug, willing to spend the small fortune it costs for a drink these days and the staff act like they're doing me a favour when they serve.
And dont get me started on the sh*t show of not giving a full serve.

We were going to be meeting Mum in Japan for our mid year holiday this year. For reasons completely outside her control she’s not going to be able to come. We’ve now got the choice of exorbitant flights to New Zealand for Christmas or we probably don’t see her for another 12 months.
It’s totally first world problems but annoying all the same.

What will you regret more? Paying some extra $$ or missing out on making some more memories?
Plus our parents start to reach that age where mortality becomes an issue so it's even more important to spend the time while you can.
^ One annoyance is how busy one’s life can be where at your stage of life time flies, yet for another family member, time is a lot slower. I get shocked when a whole month has passed and I’ve not taken the time to make contact. My dear wife is great at reminding me however

It’s funny how easy it is to spend other people’s money.

It totally is. But I'm sure you understand the intent of my reply. :-)

As an infant immigrant in 1960, I wonder at how the world has changed. In the 1800s, when you emigrated you pretty much lost contact with all your family, forever. After coming to NZ, I only saw my paternal grandparents once (which I don't remember), and my maternal grandmother once (which I do remember). Phone calls were rare (like a death in the family, not at Xmas) due to toll call prices. Relatives within NZ you might not see for 12 months or more.
