MadEngineer:

Something in the way I’m typing makes me frequently type the second letter of capitalised words also as a capital. It’s like I’m not releasing the shift key quickly enough before pressing the next letter. No, it’s not sticky.  Yes, I’m using the shift key on the opposite side to the key I’m capitalising.
Small. Really annoying.

I've been doing this for years.  Along with hitting space a millisecond too soon and having it end up one letter too early. (Initial typing of the first sentence was "I'v ebeen...").

I guess it's the typing equivalent of not having a filter as the fingers are working faster than the brain can keep up with.

I do both of those frequently. It's often when the second letter is "a" that I get the double caps.

When you're going about your day, and something small really annoys you, and you think I must remember to put that in the Something Small That Really Annoys You thread, and when you're next on GZ, you can't remember what the really small thing was, probably because it was really small.

Similarly - when I have watched something on TV or a movie on a streaming service and I think I should update the appropriate thread with my opinion, when I am next on GZ

Then I promptly forget what I have been watching.

I'll add another typing quirk that annoys me. The difference between UK and US keyboard layouts. Ever since returning from Ireland and getting used to a UK keyboard layout I find myself now hitting the semi-colon key instead of the appostrophe key back here in NZ. My emails and Teams messages are full of can;t and didn;t that I have to correct. The keys are in the same sequence on both layouts but because of the different shaped Enter key and the extra keycap to the left of the Enter key on the UK keyboard I keep hitting the wrong key on the US keyboards that we use here.

Don't worry...it only gets worse, consider these days your best ones and live in quiet denial of what's actually happening.

You WILL be happier that way.

The NZ Listener publishes an article giving details of forthcoming TV/Streaming shows. They give a brief synopsis of the main premise of each show and a rundown of the main characters and their actors. They tell you which service is streaming the show. All well and good.

What they omit is probably the most crucial part - The title of the show.

Turning the PS5 on to try and smash out a game or two of FC (AKA FIFA) before work (work from home day) and because you haven't turned it on for a few weeks you first have to wait for a system update, then a game update then controller update before you can do anything.

Ordering a $125 mobile unit for next to my desk (home office) from Mighty Ape.
Not only did I not get any shipping info, but I also received a "fully assembled (just needs the wheels and handles attached)" unit that looks like this:

When what I thought I was getting was this (as advertised):

Same, same, but different?

Cheap, poorly constructed pressed tin, which would collapse with the slightest bit of weight put in the drawers.

Massively disappointed and completely unable to leave a review on their site.

I've definitely considered it.
I'll let them put it right, but if they muck me about it's open warfare.

Cisco web filtering blocking a business website under category of phishing. Logged it with Cisco themselves who said they’ll log it with Talos. After waiting far too long I logged it with Talos myself, who simply close the ticket saying it has a “Neutral” threat level.  To reopen that simply sends a message to them and doesn’t add a comment. In fact there’s no function to add another comment to the Talos site.

Tickets closed before end user confirmation annoy me no end.

Calling Cisco but they keep dropping the calls or pretending to not hear me.

Much like the "service provider" for my work, their KPI appears to be "tickets closed" rather than "tickets resolved".  The response in the past to closed but unresolved tickets was "log a new one".

Eventually got hold of Cisco by selecting the option for a new case instead of existing. Person I spoke with had a heavy accent, she seemed to add a weird pop sound with her lips at the end of most words, sounded like she was in a kitchen with someone cooking behind her and seemed to have the microphone sitting on her desk right next to her clacking keyboard.

Didn’t have access to an “internal system” (probably Talos) that she needed to check.

At least she did update the ticket with notes from the call.
