The first one is an initialism at best.

If you pronounce it as a word in itself, it's an acronym. For example if these examples were actually pronounced 'ik' and 'ek'. Other examples are laser, AWOL, FOMO, SATA, RAM.

If you pronounce it by spelling it out, it's an initialism. Think IRD, FBI, IDK, PCI-E.

This annoys me

The FIFA WC should have never been awarded to the USA. In the same way that Russia and Qatar should have never hosted the WC.

I understand it was a few years ago that it was awarded, but with the political climate the way it is in that country, there are a number of things that concern me:

Freedom of travel for fans

Safety of non-US citizens

The Orange One's insistence that he can just change venues to suit his political needs and the uncertainty of the tournament's success is incredibly annoying for a football fan.

I love football and this idiot is going to ruin it for the world.

Also, he was in the Middle East with Trump.

Why? What does FIFA have to do with that? In my opinion there's so much corruption within that organisation.

I suspect not too many would disagree with that statement.

Technology companies obsessing about AI but they cannot get the basics delivered consistently - fixing long standing bugs playing second fiddle to an AI feature to keep tech dude bros on YouTube obsessing talking about their product.

easy: lot of sugar, cheap fat, fake ingredients of low/no nutritional value, artificial flavourings, highly processed, … in short: convinience food.

I went on to the Q Card website to login and check something with my account, to be greeted with the unhelpful message "no healthy upstream."  I'm pretty sure they're not commenting on the water quality of the Manawatu river, but that's still not very useful.  Their app is available but reckons my login details are incorrect.  So I leap on their FB page and send a message - to their credit they responded quickly - only to be told that they have scheduled maintenance on their website from 10pm 17 October until 5am 20 October.  Ahh, all good then.  Wait, what?  Is it night already?  Oh right, no, that's still 12 hours away.  So why is the website down 12 hours before the outage is due to start?  They need to do some maintenance in preparation for the outage.  Oooookay - so it's actually not 10pm, it's right now?  /shrug

I got that same message but was able to login to the app.

OneNZ customer service. I recently upgraded from the middle to top mobile plan as my employer offered a 50% discount which made it cheaper than the plan I was on. And the first month was supposed to be free. As the change was part way through a month, and I've since had the 2nd bill which is for a full month I'm a bit confused from the 2 bills as to whether I got a full free month. Went to go on their live chat on the website and was given a Whatsapp option so tried that rather than sit on hold on the phone. 2 hours later they reply asking for the 4 digit PIN on the account. Can't remember when I last used it so assume it was the same one I use everywhere. 30 minutes later they come back saying that's incorrect, so I suggest 2 others it could possibly be, and also supply my full name, DOB, email and home address hoping that would be enough ID information. Another half hour later they come back with some more questions to verify the account - how long I've had it for, what method do I usually use to pay and what is the most recent payment. Another half hour later now they've still not replied to those answers.

All feels a bit too hard just to get an answer to a question. I probably should have just phoned and put up with the hold music. Or maybe just gone out to a store with my physical ID and got them to look it up.
