invisibleman18:Yeah I emailed them to query this (mine actually went up about 23%) and got the standard "sorry you feel that way" response about medical inflation etc. I'm late 30s, generally healthy and have never made a claim, but keep it because it's subsidised through work and I play a lot of sport and tend to get injuries so figure if I do an ACL or something I can get things done privately quicker than the public waiting list. But in saying that when I ruptured my achilles playing tennis I went to ED and got it all sorted through the free system (no surgery though). Thought about dropping it but then the worry would be I then get ill and need it. Was on zero excess so I just added an excess this time to bring the new premium back a bit closer to the last year's.

If everything seems to go up multiple times the rate of inflation, you do wonder what it is that is keeping inflation as low as it is.

Gorse prickles.  Tiny little things.  Caused pre-patella bursitis after riding through a gorse bush on the weekend.  Now I can barely walk, am on anti-biotics and have mandatory two weeks of rest.  Not even sure how to rest (ultra marathon runner and endurance mountain biker) and I'm already fidgety less than 24 hours after diagnosis.  Gonna be a loooooong two weeks.

bursitis

I'd never heard of that until I was diagnosed with it five hours ago. Fortunately mine's not as severe as yours (inflammation rather than infection), but I wish you all the best in your recovery.

Usual frustrations of being a sports team manager. Tennis team so only need 4 players. Been used to struggling with the bare 4 for years and having to beg fill ins almost every week

Sounds like golf interclub (pennants). Every year I get asked if I want to play and I refuse as I play at a reasonably nice course and I don't want to spend Sunday playing a course I don't like. But yeah perpetually short of players.

On a similar note, the old fashioned way AGMs are done and club competitions are run. I hate that AGMs are the turn up for the evening then vote with hands. So normally what happens is some unpopular change is mooted, all in favour say yay, about a quarter do, then the nays think, we'll that's too many, so nays, zero. Ad nauseam.

Just do it online, anonymously and private. And club competitions run for weeks on end, great if you have absolutely no weekend commitments ever. Not so if you can't make one particular Saturday.

Club Champs tomorrow. I'll start taking bets to see if the rounds get to six hours.

Some things it would be nicer to learn at will rather than unwillingly having anatomy lessons bestowed upon us in this way.  All the best for your recovery also.

True, it wasn't so much the cost but more the wait time which I assume is still quicker privately. But also things like say there's a brain tumour and the medication isn't funded publicly but could be though insurance. While it's a relatively small amount with a discount via my employer it's probably worth having just in case.

The Auckland golf district’s Bissett Shield pennants: No round is held at the current holder’s home course which means for the last couple of years there’s been no Bissett round on Royal Auckland, the best course in the comp!

I would argue our course (not Royal Auckland!) is getting close to not wanting to host. We have such huge tee time pressure that we shouldn't be hosting any pennants. If that means not having a team, so be it. I can't recall but I think it was something like twelve Sundays at one point. If you are once a week player and can't get a Saturday time (Sunday is equally busy) then losing a dozen days to free pennant days is ludicrous.

It was like when I was a member of Gulf Harbour and everyone was available for their pennant team when we hosted!

I assume this isn't just me - but Android that states there no app updates required, but I then go to use an app and it needs an update before I can use it...

I'm annoyed at how fast the lawns are growing!
Can't they just give up and die off like a couple of summers ago?

Are you on a current android OS? The developers may have stopped targeting older versions so you get told no update because there is none for you.

Nah. It happens to me too. Also, manually check for updates. Nothing. Open an app, it works. Then you open the Play Store and there's an update for it.

Are you kidding? I love mowing the lawn when I can see a nice channel cut by the mower.

I hate it. Lawns are pointless wastes of land but I can't do anything else with it. Facebook is now showing me a crapload of ads for a robo mower that has tank like tracks and actual blades, so perhaps there is hope. Not seen how bad the app for it is yet tho.
