I hate it. Lawns are pointless wastes of land but I can't do anything else with it. Facebook is now showing me a crapload of ads for a robo mower that has tank like tracks and actual blades, so perhaps there is hope. Not seen how bad the app for it is yet tho.

There is nothing pointless about that feeling of freshly cut grass coming up between your toes when you walk barefoot across the lawn that you had just mown.

except for the Onehunga weed in Summer time

Mentioned before, but the pathological inability of garden trimmer manufacturers to make a trimmer that actually feeds out line more than once when I do the bump head thing.

Or maybe its my pathological inability to wind new string on the things properly in the first place.

my new one feeds out the line whenever you use full speed, no bumping required and it has refill lines that you just insert as one unit. Bliss

A long long time ago I had one that had an actual trigger by the handle to pull and release to feed out a bit more. Bliss squared.

Waiting for 20 minutes to speak to ANZ bank. Pay for some more people to answer the phones.

Are you crazy? Can't impact those AU$30 billion AU banks are going to profit this year.

Not that it makes much difference to ANZ but I moved everything bar a few dollars to another bank. Got so tired of their stupid AML stuff constantly hounding with questions and why and where and putting limitations on transactions after 20 years with them. Had enough. Easily opened account with another bank, no restrictions, accepted everything I required from them.

Anyway, I don’t trust ANZ anymore they have millions in fines to pay and you can bet that will be coming from us not them.

We moved our banking away (excluding business accounts) from the mainstream banks to Co-opperative Bank and Kiwi Bank a few years back and never had any issues since.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

The EGO Powerload system is very easy to use. One downside is that it simply doesn't work with line thicker than 2.4mm

Since getting the brushcutter I have barely touched the line trimmer other than along path edges. One day I will get the blade type edger but till then the line trimmer does them ok enough when I can be bothered.

Well, can't buy another trimmer as the existing one isn't very old. Just wish it worked as intended. I usually find the string has managed to get stuck under a bit of itself in the spool just before it comes out, so it stops feeding till I loosen it up (again).

Handsomedan:

Bought a dining bench to go with the table and chairs from Harvey Norman in the weekend.

It was a long hard search for the right one...once we found it we paid slightly over the odds for it, but was what we wanted, so we went for it.

Once we'd got the legs on, we found it wobbled slightly.
I measured the legs thinking they were perhaps uneven, but no...all identical.

Turns out it's very slightly warped. When sitting on it, it's OK, but without weight on it...back comes the wobble.
Incredibly annoying.

Is it still distinguishable from The Warehouse at this point?

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

If I was the sole decision maker in my household the lawn would long ago have been converted to massive garden beds...

Which you then have to selectively weed, mulch etc

Sounds like bliss tbh. With our current set up I'm done with weeding in half an hour and wishing I had more to do.

YouTube has a feature to block individual ads, but there's no feature to block Chemist Warehouse entirely. I feel like I've added 100 distinct ones to my blacklist.

uBlock Origin does a superb job on YT through a web browser. I wish there was something equivalent for AppleTV YT app.

I do have pi-hole for the home network's DNS - I don't suppose that can be configured to help.

I wish I could block the gambling ads on YouTube. I have no idea why the algorithm would be serving that up to me.

If you're signed in with a Google account you can opt out of gambling ads

https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/public-and-players/guide/how-to-opt-out-of-seeing-gambling-related-ads-on-youtube

Default ad personalization must be on for that to work. You can, switch off ad personalization in Chrome which may or may not stop ads for specific categories. I typically have all that switched off on desktop + 3rd party cookies off which probably helps keep away a few spam ads and raises others. Probably Google search ad personalisation remains on in those cases because 1st party but idk.
