Booked flights online through a well known NZ based travel agent….

I can see where you went wrong ;)

seriously, who uses travel agents to book flights these days? I thought their target market was people who didn’t have an internet connection. I don’t think I’ve used one literally this century

My $EMPLOYER still uses trave agents for international itinenaries -- we however book domestic flights/accom/travel directly.

When we went on a cruise a few years ago it was cheaper to go via a travel agent that specialised in cruises.

My employer used to use a travel agent. I noticed that this meant that most accommodation booked was in the lower regions of average reviews on TripAdvisor etc.

I find that booking direct gives much better control and visibility of the flights than having an intermediary in the way.

That the same issue is still happening when joining Skinny Mobile. Set up account, activate SIM, paid for plan, went to transfer number and get a "Woops something went wrong" message. Last time I did this for my other daughter the same thing happened so we had to get it sorted via the call centre. If I racall it was online account not syncing with app. While we were able to add the phone number and buy a plan in the app the online account says "Activate Account". Today was a three hour wait so I put it off to this afternoon and now they are not accepting any calls and just refer to send a facebook message. Fun times.

I only did it because they had a sale on fares to Australia so it was at least $200 than booking direct with Qantas. I think the airlines themselves periodically have sales so next time I'll wait and do it that way.

Interestingly my parents recently travelled to Australia with accommodation booked through the same travel agency and apparently the accommodation was filthy. So, clearly they don't have much to offer in the way of advice or recommendations which you'd think would be the main benefit of using a travel agent.

And now the travel agent is spamming me with an unsubscribe link that doesn't work. I've made a DIA anti-spam report.

Annoying how a couple of meetings with clients can wipe out nearly a whole day.

… but I’m guessing that it’s actually the clients who provide the revenue that keeps the ship afloat? 🤔

When I worked in banking back in the day, there was a corny old saying: ‘If we had no clients, just imagine how much admin we could get done’.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Add colleagues and managers onto that list and work would be great....

My company's senior project manager, and another person, our financial accountant making a simple job complicated.

I posted time sheets from April onwards. They said I and my boss were using capital expense for a project.

In an extremely long email, the project manager said we needed to switch it to operating expense, and he requested the accountant to re-open the timesheets.

But given the great length of the email, he failed to tell me what the new code was, so I had to ask.

I went to fix the oldest timesheet, moving it from one column to another, and I couldn't.

I asked Microsoft Copilot for help with the cloud based application. I gave the company name and product name specifically asking for links. Four times it hallucinated a solution, and when I pointed that out it apoligized and did exactly the same thing.

(ChatGPT said immediately it had no information, so kudos to them)

The financial accountant said I couldn't edit it because it was in a different financial year.

I noticed she had opened some for the previous financial year and some for the current.

A simple job made complicated.

These guys also make much more money than I do.

To be fair, if the financial year is closed you definitely shouldn't be reopening it to move something from capex to opex or vice versa. You can make corrections in the current financial year.

Airpoints are being renamed Koru. Fair enough. Simplified plans are on the horizon. This simply is marketing speak for the redemption rate will drop again making it less worthwhile.

I am recovering from surgery. I am much more alert and feeling back to normal, except the the area operated on, which is hard not to move given it's location. That means my brain is at 100% but I can't really do much.  I am supposed to be resting, but that's not really something I do. I feel trapped.  I have 5 days to wait for my impediments to be removed, so it's like this for a while long. I am already going out of my mind.
