Behodar:

People don't seem to know what "RSVP" means any more. I sent out invitations to half a dozen people almost six weeks ago and so far none of them have bothered to respond. I fully expect all of them to just turn up on the day without a care in the world.

The problem is that a lot of people expect to be invited to things via Facebook. I am not on Facebook, so it's very difficult for me to arrange things and I often don't get invited to things arranged by others.

They know what FOMO means, they'll be waiting until the last minute to make sure nothing more exciting turns up.

That the same issue is still happening when joining Skinny Mobile. Set up account, activate SIM, paid for plan, went to transfer number and get a "Woops something went wrong" message. Last time I did this for my other daughter the same thing happened so we had to get it sorted via the call centre. If I racall it was online account not syncing with app. While we were able to add the phone number and buy a plan in the app the online account says "Activate Account". Today was a three hour wait so I put it off to this afternoon and now they are not accepting any calls and just refer to send a facebook message. Fun times.

Found some time today to sit with daughter and call centre to sort it out. 15min wait for a call back, a very nice person helping us through it, 26min on phone. Deleted account, re set it up, transferred number and all working fine now. Not sure of the cause, it could have been we had a previous account under that email, if so why does it let me set up a new account with the same email. The support person did not mention finding another account. It could have been setting up account on my PC via website then adding app and logging in on her phone rather than doing everything on her phone. The move my number is done via the website so could have just got all confused. Or something else, at least it got sorted.

iOS taking up 100+GB on my 256GB iPhone.

I had a similar issue as far back as my iPhone 6 Plus. The operating system had some kind of meltdown where it was generating logs (or something) and filling up all available space. Freeing up any space was quickly filled within minutes. Of course given the way iOS works it is impossible to actually troubleshoot as you can on a desktop. And the backup from iTunes didn't work.

Based on comments online we are far from the only ones. Apple should focus on addressing some bugs like this rather than new features for a bit.

A common workaround: disable iCloud Drive temporarily, restart the iPhone, and then System Data drops significantly.

Another trick (the “date trick”): change date ahead to force iOS to clear cached files.

I find it annoying that the solution to a common iOS issue is to have "workarounds" rather than a redesign of the operating system that would solve the issues to begin with.

Things on Black Friday sales that were actually cheaper a few weeks ago.

(I think. Too lazy to check if like for like...)

Cisco, or someone employed to act as them, wanting to invite me to a seminar but starting the call with “Hi, are you in the IT team?”.

You’d think if they were so keen to have participants going along that they’d be a bit more professional about it, state their name and who they’re from before opening a random call with a question about my role.

Purchased a movie on my iPhone in Apple TV, but the Apple TV app on my TV doesn’t seem to show it as a purchase and doesn’t come up in search

It's probably an Apple TV + app on the tv that doesn't access library. Why Apple balkanised the tv app is anyone's guess.

Just opened my Apple TV app on the android box. It’s the Apple app, minus the +

Scroll left to the menu, click on Library tab, you’ll find them under recent purchases and also under Movies tab.

Took me a bit to find it the first time as it populates without showing a left menu.

Getting to the age where doing four leisure activities in the same week is just too much to cope with and knowing that I’ll be tired for the next month.
For reference: Concert on Wednesday night, Mountain Biking and comedy show on Saturday night, A-League football at Mt Smart on Sunday afternoon.

Crikey! I am so tired…

A new driver install (thanks, Dell), removed the 1920x1080 resolution from an external monitor on my Windows laptop.

No amount of uninstall, install, disabled, enable, off, on, restart, plug, unplug was able to restore it.

Watch out, it will soon affect you too... because bad examples establish themselves faster than good ones.

In short: „vodafone builds it‘s own internet“ and Telekom charges twice for bandwidth:

once for the end customer contract and, more recently, also for ‘highly frequented services’ (such as Cloudflare, etc.).

We already have this here in New Zealand. Spark has tradittionally been reluctant to peer on open exchanges, unless lots of money changes hands.
