I thought you were supposed to ride the bike, not do arm curls with it 🤔

It's a bit of a puzzle that some people have a lot of problems with Linux across multiple machines while others have few or no problems across multiple machines.
No idea. Windows runs smoothly for me in Virtual Box under Linux Mint (it’s ubuntu based!) + Cinnamon on my ultra 7 desktop PC. Some Windows programmes also run directly under Linux with Wine (without any Windows). I've never tried it the other way round, as I wanted to get rid of Windows for the most use cases, not Linux.
That has been my experience too, and I knew very little about Linux before installing Linux Mint it on a new PC four or five years ago. No CLI needed for the installation (not that I'm scared of CLI's, having been raised on CP/M and various flavours of DOS).
May be a timing thing - I find some apps gets killed quite quickly resulting in the outcome you describe but others hang around in the background and are still intact when you go back.
That's still the fault of the app though. It gets a message before being killed, and it should use that opportunity to "remember" which window it had open.
Handsomedan:Is that diagnosed by a Dr?

Tennis Elbow.
I DON'T EVEN PLAY TENNIS!
Also caused by golf and drinking.
Don't play golf (anymore) and rarely drink.
I think it's repeated strain from lifting my heavy eBike onto and off the bike rack.
Once you're on the mend, see if you can get someone to observe how you're lifting it. Often you can think you're doing an exercise correctly but need an observer to point out something you're doing wrong.
The new "Smart" ATM at ANZ - half the time I want to make a deposit the notes, coins, or both are unavailable 🙄.
My troubles with medication continues. Last night I went to do my injection into my leg and the pen would not fire. Second attempt would not fire then suddenly it fires with force of a Hellcat missile, neddle goes in very painfully and when I extract it dark red blood does a small fountain out of my leg. Thankfully my wife is a certified first aider and stops the bleed very fast.
I guess the blood made the medication come back out. I cannot do another due to the risk of overdose. Very annoying and the next week could be a bit of a challenge.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
Jeez that’s not good, take care.
I was just about to moan about drivers going 100km past a school bus letting kids off yesterday but that is nothing compared to your issue.
I know two guys that have hit kids getting off school buses, so get really annoyed when drivers don't slow down passing a school bus. I have been passed or tooted at when slowing down to 20kph to pass a school bus. I have even had an idiot pass between me and the bus.
What also annoys me is buses parked up when the driver has been too lazy to remove the SCHOOL signs.

This is not to justify it in any way, but I think it would be really good for the bus to have a 20kmh that illuminated or flashed while the bus was not moving so that it was a constant reminder. Like school zones, put the reduced speed limit in the neon yellow sign rather than just have school zone.
Annoying thing of the day - my favourite brown boots have given up the ghost - the uppers have split in a way that is unrepairable.
They were that rare breed of boot that did double duty as both a dressier option and a casual boot...and they were SO comfortable!!
Cannot find a decently priced replacement in my size.
Looks like I'll be getting a pair of Doc Martens for the first time in 30 years. They seem to be the only good alternative under $300

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
