Idiot questions on Trademe. Trying to sell a lego set (fairly valuable one as it's a large retired set you can't easily get anymore). Facebook marketplace hasn't worked out so thought I'd give Trademe a go. Get a notification of a question so thought someone might be interested.

"How many pieces is it?"

I resisted the urger to answer "it clearly says on the front of the box in the photo" and just gave the answer.

It's like the age-old question, "What's the reserve?"

My standard answer (which might or might not put people off) is "The lowest amount I'll accept".

I assumed reading the description details was a step too far for most people (and in fairness I didn't actually state the number of pieces in the details, because it's on the photo), but thought they would at least look at the photo.

Having watched people at work try to shop on their phones, the idea of opening and zooming images is too much for them to cope with sometimes.

Trying to resurrect an almost bricked android tablet. I swear every year I get it out. Sit at the laptop for a few hours. Fail. Put back in it's box until I dig it out a year later.

Why haven't they been able to make truly exceptional Android tablets at anything less than the premium level? It seems anything below a Galaxy Tab level is pretty much useless after about 3-6 months...or at least that's been my experience.

I go to a website. I click one of the menu options and the second-level menu opens. A couple of seconds later it closes again to make way for a popup stating that since I'm in New Zealand I probably want the local site. I click through. The page loads. I open the menu and a couple of seconds later it closes again for a popup advertising their newsletter.

Do you want me to buy something or not?!

Yeah they're a bit of an odd duck. I have a Nexus 7 LTE which had been a great tablet for a decade. Left it on a plane and Air New Zealand had it for about six months before ringing me out of the blue (at the time I was flying 2-3 times a month) to say they had it. It never really recovered from that "rest".  Tried to put a custom ROM on it and bricked it.

I didn't replace it in the interim as I was using my laptop and phone, but now I feel my phone is a bit annoying to use sitting on the couch as it's quite a narrow screen (Samsung Flip).

I should probably just buy an iPad but thought I'd give it another crack

Explaining something technical to someone when I don’t know how knowledgeable they are and they start getting defensive on what I’m saying, like I’m mansplaining or something.

I don’t know your level of expertise but just follow along with me so that we are on the same page, then we can get into the more gritty aspects. Especially if you want to argue with me.

Me: If it’s not working because the wigwam ….them:NO ITS NOT THE WIGWAM BECAUSE OF XYZ …

Like I was saying, if the wigwam was the fault then we’d be seeing QRS…

I work logically and step things through for good reason.
