I think I need to investigate safer door options. These springs are dangerous.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I am annoyed about the number of people impersonating Santa. When Santa comes down my chimney, I want to know that it's the real deal and not just some random dude coming to rob me.

I've given the answer to danger. The only thing else is a broken spring can be inconvenient. Replacing springs on both sides should reduce the chance of that happening.

What kind of door was it? Tilt or sectional?

Sectional should not do that as the spring is contained around the lifting rod.

But both types of doors require springs to operate safely. They are used to hold the weight of the door when it's partially opened to stop it slamming down and to help the motor do its job.

It's a tilting door. I may consider a door like the Garador Flex-a-Door.

"No more dangerous springs at the side. The Flex-A-Door encloses its springs within the horizontal tracks well away from little fingers."

It's just a different style of sectional door, so still requires springs to operate.

I asked them not to bother and asked them to come back in the new year to arrange a new door.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I wonder if you could put a nylon sock over the spring to hold it together?

Might have to have a look at ours to see what is possible.

From memory we have had two springs break in the 30+ years since the door was installed.

Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Except for the neighbours, who are out in the street yelling at each other.

Well our escape from Xmas couldn’t have been worse and much like The Kranks Christmas.

At the cruise terminal was sent to the naughty passenger corner where another pile of glum passengers sat, because our travel insurance didn’t state New Caledonia, but we did have cruise insurance. Luckily I had written to Southern Cross to ask if we were covered in New Caledonia and they wrote back affirmative, but the policy only showed Australia.

You can’t travel without the NC insurance. With limited data left on my phone roaming I searched for the email, found it in gmail but the 5 attachments of course wouldn’t open! Luckily I had also sent it to my yahoo and eventually found the email to show them, by this time I was shaking and in tears under so much pressure and worried my data would run out.

Then we get to passport control and she looks me up and down many times like I was on some offenders list and calls over a superior. Heart dropped. So they are all looking at the passport and at me and I’m asking what, what. Finally with little explanation she says it’s a glitch because it’s a new passport and waves me through.

Get on board still distressed and think finally. Well within a few days I get sick and miserable.

Then this morning…I wake up to Camera messages, Person detected in Hallway then another five messages that movement detected in other rooms. Well…guess who forgot to put in the SD card in the cameras so I couldn’t review. I’m frantic now and can’t call the police as don’t have phone use in middle of the Coral Sea we are in airplane mode, only messaging. First thought was ask someone at GZ to phone for me. Finally managed to find a friend to call them.

So I’m watching on camera at four police with guns, going through the house and managed to talk with them through the camera. Nothing appeared breached and they gave the thumbs up. No idea who or what triggered the cameras, we don’t have a cat but apparently may have a ghost.

So now am feeding on Panadols while the rest are eating shrimp and petit fours. So much for escaping drama at xmas. One more day to go. What else could go wrong.

That sounds like something out of a horror film. I'm sorry that Christmas took such a strange turn. Next time will be even better, guaranteed! Heads up! 😉

PolicyGuy:

Geektastic:

Drivers turning right at T junctions who feel that executing the turn at 90 degrees and within the road markings is entirely optional.

In particular, those who don’t seem to mind turning across my lane when I’m on a motorbike waiting to turn right out of the junction.

One of these lackwits missed my front wheel by all of 6 inches today.

This because motorbikes (and pushbikes) and their riders are completely invisible to a particular class of car drivers

😞

This is true. In my case, I feel that the particular class would be blind drivers.

My bike is neon green.
Its LED headlamp is on as a matter of regulation

My riding jacket is grey/black with bright DayGlo yellow panels and zips

My helmet is black with Dayglo yellow graphics

If you can’t see that, you ought to be on a bus!
