Eva888:

Well our escape from Xmas couldn’t have been worse and much like The Kranks Christmas.

At the cruise terminal was sent to the naughty passenger corner where another pile of glum passengers sat, because our travel insurance didn’t state New Caledonia, but we did have cruise insurance. Luckily I had written to Southern Cross to ask if we were covered in New Caledonia and they wrote back affirmative, but the policy only showed Australia.

You can’t travel without the NC insurance. With limited data left on my phone roaming I searched for the email, found it in gmail but the 5 attachments of course wouldn’t open! Luckily I had also sent it to my yahoo and eventually found the email to show them, by this time I was shaking and in tears under so much pressure and worried my data would run out.

Then we get to passport control and she looks me up and down many times like I was on some offenders list and calls over a superior. Heart dropped. So they are all looking at the passport and at me and I’m asking what, what. Finally with little explanation she says it’s a glitch because it’s a new passport and waves me through.

Get on board still distressed and think finally. Well within a few days I get sick and miserable.

Then this morning…I wake up to Camera messages, Person detected in Hallway then another five messages that movement detected in other rooms. Well…guess who forgot to put in the SD card in the cameras so I couldn’t review. I’m frantic now and can’t call the police as don’t have phone use in middle of the Coral Sea we are in airplane mode, only messaging. First thought was ask someone at GZ to phone for me. Finally managed to find a friend to call them.

So I’m watching on camera at four police with guns, going through the house and managed to talk with them through the camera. Nothing appeared breached and they gave the thumbs up. No idea who or what triggered the cameras, we don’t have a cat but apparently may have a ghost.

So now am feeding on Panadols while the rest are eating shrimp and petit fours. So much for escaping drama at xmas. One more day to go. What else could go wrong.

I’m impressed you got police with guns to turn up: are you a VIP? Embassy staff? Spy?

ADHD Executive Dysfunction...

I'm ADHD and have been really trying my hardest all day to do tasks before Christmas. I've been having to fight my own brain all day to get stuff done and it is mentally draining. My Wife, who isn't ADHD understands me (thankfully) but I feel I let her down every time I get it bad - like right now.

Basically tasks that should take minutes take hours.

Don't beat yourself up. We all have things we are good and bad at doing. I bet you are super at so many things, have read your responses. Also it’s a male thing, us women multi task and usually men plod along behind us getting it wrong :))  Ask any wife. You are not unique.

Tomorrow it will all be over. Just enjoy the moment and being with people you care about.

@Geektastic. Nope just a mere mortal. I was rather surprised also but I guess when there’s a person detected they have to be wary as they could be armed.

Eva888.

I forgot to get the name of the hotel I was staying at the first time I went to New Caledonia. All I knew was the name of the company I was going to be working at and who was picking me up. Had to wait for everyone on the plane to be processed and was then taken to the arrivals area to get the hotel name.

Hopefully all your drama has finished, and you get to enjoy your holiday.

Not the usual approach imo thank goodness. Perhaps there was some random known dangerous person on the loose they were especially alert for that day.

That even Christmas day is no longer sacrosanct to the power of the advertising dollar on broadcast TV.

Never been a customer of them to begin with, and not in the immediate future either.

The hotel we are staying at has beautiful floor to ceiling windows along an entire wall. Fantastic views and lights, except at night you need to roll down 5 huge blinds by hand and the chains are short so arms in the air pulling in tight knobbly chains. Now it’s morning and they all need to go up again. There are big gaps of light in between each blind and the room is full of light so have been awake since 5am. It needs drapes to pull across. There are big entire apartment has this same issue. Totally impractical.

These things

Nouveau | Basket Waste Plug 80mm | Mitre10

I wish I could find a perfect replacement for our sink but no, they either don't fit properly, letting the water out or they sit such that water is slowly released
