I have set Teams to "do not disturb". So far it has disturbed me three [edit: eight] times with a message telling me that I have DND turned on.

It gets even better. It defaults to switching DND back off again after 24 hours. There's a "Duration" feature, which lets you pick a custom date. This custom date is then ignored, and it turns itself off after 24 hours again.

Just wait for AI, it will only make things worse.

AI has not even caught up with natural stupidity yet, so they are DECADES/CENTURIES from general AI.

WHY, do some You Tube videos do they have the brightness wound right up ?

It makes me leave that video, even when its something I may be interested in.

I now just go "Dont recommend this Channel" in case its some idiot creator

A bit annoyed that, the Trump thread will overtake the COVID-19 discussion as top thread on Geekzone, despite being ten years old next week.

What a wasted time in all our lives.

I watch a few too many YouTube videos some days. I've never seen or noticed this.

Its not many that I see.

If you slowly run your mouse over the "preview" they will often light up there too, particularly the ones where the preview is "live" so you can see it playing just with your pointer over the top of it.

Probably less than 1% and they are certainly not on any of the main channels I watch, and I watch some weird ones..."secret tunnels under London" for example.

My biggest beef with YT playback is the variations in loudness. One moment you have to turn up the volume, the next you have to turn it back down again.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

Probably not surprising given that one has caused rarely seen before so much misery, pain, suffering, grief and has separated families from their loved ones.

The vaccine has largely curtailed the impact of the other.

Windows again. Aaargh.

A couple of days ago, "your organisation requires that you reboot before [last night] to install updates". I find an appropriate time and I let it install and reboot. When I left yesterday I had a number of things open. Got in this morning to find that it rebooted itself anyway, even though the updates had already been installed.

I don't understand why we use this toy OS, and helpdesk doesn't seem to know either!

HDR issue? You got that all set up alright? Sometimes on desktop its just better to disable it all since it never seems to work right.

Definitely not worth the price of admission, but one personal upside was he made me take a much keener interest in overseas politics, human rights, and creeping abuse of power.  Prior I just let most of that wash over me.

People that set up systems to send emails purporting to come from themselves on third party services who then wonder why their emails are spf rejected

Google TV Streamer and maybe any recent Google TV has a normalize setting for this. It seems to work reasonably well overall.
