I read it. Nothing about causing pregnancy. Unless they all eat together naked?

Queenstown police's embarrassing gaffe

10 June, 2016

Queenstown police have apologised to a woman wrongly accused of shoplifting on their Facebook page.

The mistake, which linked an innocent woman to a male shoplifter, has sparked a review of Queensland police's social media procedures.
Inspector Olaf Jensen, has met with Ginny Mitchell, the victim of the wrongful association and has apologised in person.
"We are currently speaking to our staff about their social media procedures and they are now aware how a mistake like this can affect an innocent person," he said.
"The staff later posted that the woman in the original video, who appeared to know the shoplifter, wasn't involved and has been eliminated in having any involvement in the incident.
"Facebook is one of many of our social media policing tools, however from time to time, we do make mistakes and we humbly apologise to Ms Mitchell."

Perhaps that should be NZ Herald makes embarrassing gaffe - which is it - Queenstown or Queensland? They're not even in the same country.

Drink-driver in wheelchair

Click bait again. If you read the article, she's ended up in a wheelchair because of her injuries.

"Woman's legs baffle the Internet."

Since when did "the Internet" get AI???

(Random woman has her legs crossed weirdly... Really news? 🙈)

Up there with reporting what "X wrote on Facebook" as if writing on Facebook has any more importance than singing in the shower.

In the mad rush to get the new headline out, hope fades that there's anybody left to  proof-read.

To be fair McDonalds calls itself a restaurant. Sit down takeaway?

Anyway here's one from the front page for days now:

"'Evil' dad who was allowed to kill child. Revealed: The tragic series of events that saw a judge grant violent father custody of little girl who was dead just a year later."

Gosh that's serious one of those terrible cases of child abuse. Read half the article and find it is a uk story.

Must be getting gazillions of clicks been on the front page for days. Imho it's an annoying side effect of the free news model. Ideally the news would remain free and the paywalls would implement better information design for customers who need that.
