Personally I think the planet would be far better off without us and I hope we do become extinct.

I used to believe that we should make every effort to get off this planet to ensure our survival but now I can't think of a worse outcome. We would pollute the solar system and eventually the Universe. We are a virus and need to be killed off.

I can't think of a single thing humans have done that has been to the Earth's benefit We've just been feathering our own nest.

Many men react badly when they feel their masculinity is being threatened. You'll see it in bar fights and boardrooms all over the world.

They could have said " we showed men a pink floral gift card, and when compared to those shown a regular card, those shown the pink one chose non green products," -

I think we'll start to see the answer to that within the next 5-10 years. Crop failures due to changing climate should be high in peoples mind. On top of this, with increased population comes increased demand for food, driving agriculture to use more and more water. This in turn is eroding aquifers worldwide. I think we're getting extremely close to the point where something has to give before too long.

It's western perspective stuff, especially the colour part. Travel extensively through Asia and you'll quickly find that pink is not regarded as feminine.

I would like to say I am not having children but is just a healthy biproduct of not liking them on the other hand I use it as my argument that I do not need to go vegan.

I fully agree. Fred is correct that the earth will recover, its been hotter before and once it was fully covered with ice. The human issue is we will reduce the size of the planet for occupying and providing food.

The sad thing is that we are overrun with technology to replace fossil fuels. And as the big powers say, they want to, but AFTER they use the cheaper and already available, FF. Then they will be very happy to go green. Way too late then though

Its only about today's money, not tomorrows survival or tomorrow's ultra expensive costs to maintain ourselves with too many people in too small a space

Yes, its recovered naturally. Now, we are not adding natural components into the atmosphere, and we wont be stopping for decades. It will recover, but we won't be here, of if we are, its a few million

A couple of issues with this study ... I'll limit myself to commenting on two of them

1) The study found that both women and men see eco behaviour as inherently feminine. This data supports a hypothesis that the femininity motivates females to act sustainably in order to appear feminine but has no effect on males.

2) The pink gift card situation could be interpreted to show that men will avoid eco behaviour at times when they feel their masculinity is threatened. Those results don't support a hypothesis doesn't extend to shunning eco behaviour at other times.

Loose experimental design ...

Personally I (a male) know I could live more sustainably, but I can't be bothered. Likewise I could also do better job of making the bed and folding the laundry but I can't be bothered trying harder with those either.
