What is going to happen in Jan/Feb when all the buyers start asking for refunds for undelivered parcels?

AliExpress is a marketplace. Sellers know the rules, they accept the risk.
What AliExpress needs to do to help with their reputation is ensure sellers use the shipping methods chosen by customers. Currently they do not do so, even if AliExpress shipping is chosen. Sellers using cheaper shipping methods are the primary reason for delays IMO. Even with Covid, I have never had an AliExpress Standard Shipping package delivered late (bearing in mind base shipping times were extended due to logistical issues).

Why would you buy it from Russia?
I have got an update yesterday for my Ali parcel
Nov 8, 2020 16:00 READY TO SEND Not sure why do i receive this after 1 month
That's what my parcel says, but it been on READY TO SEND since the 17th of November (7 days after it was "said" to be departed from china). Did you receive yours?

Probably the new phrase for 'Handed to shipping forwarder'
Or if it's intl tracked, pre-warning sent to the next carrier and they have produced a waybill ready for it's arrival.
Mine for instance, as soon as it hit that state, the 910x tracking number from Ali was all of a sudden searchable on nzpost tracking. But seemed to be a tracking label produced, or pre-arrival notice, but not actioned state. 3 Days later, it was tracked as hitting AKL.
27/11/2020 10:10 In transit to local depot Auckland Airport
27/11/2020 10:09 International arrival Auckland Airport
24Nov 24/11/2020 10:33 Ready to send

Ah, that makes so much more sense. Glad you were one of the lucky ones who passed the "Ready to Send" status to "International arrival Auckland Airport" in 3 days. NZPost needs to be more specific on their information and what it means. Ordered on the 4th of November, hoping i receive it in the mail before christmas

Because the guy selling it has a solid reputation. In fact, when my parcel got hung up the first time, he Fedexed another item ($1k value) to me for free.
Having been purchasing many, many mostly small electronics items from Aliexpress, generally via Aliexpress Standard shipping for a few years, it has recently deteriorated hugely, with most items taking at least 2+ months to arrive from China.
These delays are demonstrably unnecessary, if Aliexpress could be bothered, as 'direct mail' shipping of Banggood items from China, often at lower cost than Aliexpress Standard, is often 2 to 3 weeks. Sometimes quicker, particularly most recently.
My advice is if you don't want to wait for months for an item, not to purchase from Aliexpress if you can purchase a similar item from Banggood, even though the item cost maybe a bit higher.
I placed an order on October 3. They were in ready to send from October 9. The order arrived today.
ali is pretty slow but I don’t recall anything ever go missing.

Another early October order arrived yesterday for me (13/10 -> 07/12). Looks to be a pretty standard wait time at the moment.

But in the case of "AliExpress Standard Shipping" isn't it AliExpress themselves who organize the shipping - not the seller?
I queried my long overdue items with the seller, and they basically said I'd have to take it up with AliExpress. They did follow up the next day to let me know they'd chased it up themselves and had found that apparently AliExpress had sent it via surface mail (i.e. a literal slow boat from China). It didn't ask them to follow it up, so I thought it was good of them to do so.
I understand the world is in chaos at the moment, but if something is going to take several months to arrive don't advertise it as 13-20 days.
But here's the bit that gets me a bit annoyed. When you check the tracking on AliExpress it says 10/10/2020 Shipment accepted by airline and 16/10/2020 Departed Country of Origin. But the screenshot of the tracking that the seller sent me yesterday says 22/10/2020 Departed Origin Port. So AliExpress says it left the country via plane on 16/10, but apparently it actually left 22/10/2020 via ship.
Anyway, apparently it has just arrived in NZ so hopefully might get it before the weekend.

AliExpress handles the delivery, but I'm not sure if they are involved in the collection side of things. The issue is that sellers can claim to be using one form of shipping, including AliExpress shipping, and then send using a completely different method. You can pay for express post, but you may get ePacket or similar, apparently with no penalty for the seller.
DHL is the one that really bugs me. Package which should take three days ends up taking ten or more, because they are first handed to a logistics company who sends them to another country before handing them to DHL. That simply, shouldn't be allowed. I know small sellers may not be able to handle the logistics themselves, but such practices are misleading.
Wish I'd found this thread before I bought a few things from Aliexpress in October. Two items bought a week apart, both using Aliexpress shipping; the second one ended up with an NZPost tracking number and is now in CHCH rattling around NZPost. The first one seems to be China Post / Cainiao Global, and has been stuck on "departed from original country" for a number of weeks. Two separate carriers being used for the same shipping option must surely be against their rules; if it is I'll likely file a complaint / dispute should the item not arrive before Christmas.
My fault for using the cheap option just like I would with TM, Amazon, or NZGameShop, but we all have to learn things sometime.
