I have a family member who is consistently late to things. I invited him to something at 11, not expecting him to be on time. At about 9 he rang me, "Is it OK if I turn up early? I'll be there at about 10." This was unheard of! And then he turned up at 10:56.

My wife was notoriously late for everything, same as everyone else on her side of the family. One day I got very cross and talked about how when you are late it means you aren't respecting anyone elses time. It made quite a difference.

the Car registration fee rise, it is now $172 a year. That is a big jump.

A vibrating roller working near our building.  Due to the nature of the ground around us, it vibrates the whole building and rattles things.  Quite disruptive.

Years ago I had a sole practitioner GP who was always running massively late during his daily appointments. I started making sure I was his first appointment of the day each time I went to see him. He would still turn up at work running 20-30 minutes late - even though he lives only a short walk from his surgery. No apologies offered.

After several episodes of this, one morning I was very pissed off after a long wait. I asked him if he thought his time was more important than mine. He had no idea what I was talking about. I told him I was also a busy person and that while I'm waiting for him, I'm not working. I said I thought he comes across as high-handed and arrogant and not particularly respectful of his patients.

He apologized profusely and said that many people had told him about his poor timekeeping. He said he must try and do better. TBH I can't remember now if things improved and shortly after that we moved to another part of the city and I went to a closer, local GP.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

If that was going near our house, I am pretty sure it'd fall down!

My annoyance is the ongoing enshitification of software. Windows 11 is an absolute mess. I thought I had made it bearable by killing the stupid Widgets and running a github filter over it but there are still things like the dumb half-calendar that used to be perfectly usable and the tab function that has been crippled for no good reason I can think of other than just petty malice. And not just Windows. My otherwise excellent Brave browser has decided for no good reason to follow Chrome's completely random and unnecessary decision to kill the excellent horizontal tab function without a word of warning to users. And these are only a few recent examples. There seems to be a trend to make things as unhandy as possible for users. I wish it would stop.

A steelbook arrives from Amazon France. Its the best wrapped steelbook I've ever got. I comment to number three midget that its the best wrapped steelbook I've ever got and how all the other ones received have been just chucked in an envelope and have all arrived undamaged so this super well wrapped one is bound to be damaged. I finish unwrapping it and....its damaged.

Only a teeny bit, but still.

The loosening of the profanity filters feels like it has slightly lowered the tone of a number of comments and conversations.

The filter hasn't changed in years. One word was removed. So if you have other examples, send me via PM.

No, that was the change I was referring to :)

As someone who has a filthy mouth, I must admit I like having some places where it's forbidden. It's a personal preference thing and a me problem.

Always thought Valhalla was reserved for Nokia, which would also make it pretty full anyway.

The literal small thing that's annoyed me lately - ARGB connectors.  I've been playing with the case fans in my PC and these little connectors are so frustrating.  The have three pins in a 2-0-1 config which means it can only go one way, but the socket on the connector is pretty small for the pins, and I'm always worried - when I'm holding one of these small plugs in my meaty hand, buried in the depths of my PC case - that I'm going to have it the wrong way around and try to push the blanked part of the connector against a pin and bend or crush it.  Surely there's a better design?
