People who buy things on TradeMe (in this case via a Fixed Price Offer) and then don't respond to any emails. Not a cheap item either so if they don't attempt any communication with me I'm going to have to try and get my success fee back and that's a whole other hassle...

They might be messaging you in the app, which is something that trademe as typical only half implemented so if you never used the app would never see the messages they have sent you. Perhaps they have fixed that now but I have no idea since I do my best to avoid the place.

Hmmm true. I don't use the app, and there is no messaging on the web interface.

In any case he perhaps saw this complaint and has now replied that he missed the first email but has seen the second so funds will be on their way shortly...

Daughter bought a rug recently on trademe with buy now. Arranged pickup time with cash payment on pickup.

Seller contacted her the day before pickup and postponed the trade.

Unknown to us, the rug was an insurance water damage claim and the insurance company wanted to inspect it. A couple of days later the seller emailed her to cancel the trade.

I know we could probably have tried to force the trade.

Handsomedan:

Tennis elbow - seems to have migrated to the right elbow in addition to the aforementioned left elbow.

Quite painful and makes lifting things, opening things and generally doing things quite difficult.

I've been taking Voltaren, applying ice packs and putting antiflamme on, but it's now at the point where I am going to have to seek medical assistance.

Annoying and irritating.

I've had some on & off pain in my shoulder for a short while now. The physio says it's probably a pinched nerve, and nothing symptomatic of anything far more serious.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

I had an on and off pain on my left leg three years ago. A couple of scans later revealed a Schwannoma on my spinal cord, which required a neurosurgery.

These are usually benign, and grow on nerves. You may see why removing this one from the spinal cord was important, as this is one nerve you don't want to have problems with.

Have it checked by a doctor.

The number of people who simply assume rules do not apply to them.

We’re in Wanaka, camping in the motorhome at the Iggy Pop concert.

A week ago, the organisers sent out the various dos and don’ts. These included explicitly:

1) No bbqs at all

 2) No dogs

Last night there were more bbqs than a Mitre 10 sale and at least four dogs.

The event itself explicitly said:

1) No ice

 2) No ice blocks

 3) No alcohol

At the entry? Numerous piles of ice, a box full of confiscated ice blocks and another box full of confiscated alcoholic drinks.

It’s not hard to follow the rules and yet…

Frozen vodka?

(Although I think it's almost impossible)

Reminds me of an amusing situation when I was flying out of Queenstown. I was in the domestic screening queue for work, someone else may have been in the international queue. Was holding a bottle of nice scotch they'd bought presumable in the airport. Was told they couldn't take more than 100ml of liquid through (or whatever the limit was), kicked up a fuss, opened the bottle had a swig, gave to mate to have a swig. Then tipped the whole thing into the bin before dropping the bottle so the staff couldn't have it.

I'm a stickler for following rules.  Where there's a warning sign there is probably also a good story.  I blame covid for rule breakers.  That, and some people just like to stick it to the man.  Fun police etc etc

Presumably purchased in duty free and must have been opened

Tonight's one on marketplace at 11pm:

"Can I have your address please can I come and pee right now? Because I'm just looking for now."

I'm going to assume he meant "see" right now as it would a bit more disturbing if that wasn't a typo or autocorrect.

I may be up watching the tennis, but he doesn't know that (wife is in bed though) and it's 11pm. You're not coming to my house right now.  And it's just old playstation games for $15, it's not furniture or anything that needs inspection. Perhaps he wanted to come in and fire each one up to have a go first.....

You missed the opportunity to have a gaming buddy for the evening and knock out some co-op sessions.  ;-)
