RAV4 PHEV not avail new until closer to the end of the year. Previously was going to be early this year

A little boy waits.

Tempted to buy a straight hybrid and trade it in when they arrive.  Not sure if that would pass the mrs’ OK.

If it's any help, I had a (normal) RAV4 Hybrid for 3 years and it was one of the best vehicles I ever had...and I have had a few over the years.

Have you noticed the imminent RAV4 models specify 95 octane whereas previous years were 91, and the 2 wheel drive models towing capacity has been downrated from 1500kg to 750kg?

I also noticed the new models will have full remote connectivity, ie remote start, cool or heat, lower/raise the windows, monitor speed, location etc. Comes free for a various number of years depending on feature but no info on ongoing subscription costs.

Seems quite a low tow rating for a braked trailer.  Unbraked seems to be a flat 750kg no matter what the vehicle though.

750kg unbraked is reasonable but other lighter vehicles like Suzuki Vitara still specify 1500kg braked. Toyota mention a range of factors that seem fair but not for something RAV4 sized.

RAV4 non-AWD is just silly. I’d rather get a saloon in that case. I’m keen to get a roof rack tent and just park up at any ol camp site as I please.

This article: https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360935826/how-tell-algorithms-what-you-want-what-you-really-really-want-see

Blatant, misleading and hidden advertising.

From the article "you’ll get more of our trusted, local journalism in your feed and less AI-friendly slop.".

You will get less AI-friendly slop, but no word on AI-generated slop.

It'll take far more to fix AI slop & pink slime than what the article suggests.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell

That's terrible. Will it advance forward in a less threatening fashion?

Just kidding... hope you can resolve this!

Moaning about the cooler wetter weather, then feeling like moaning about the "Gobi Desert" weather we're getting now.

Quick service, the tech visited advised the battery was deceased. She explained that there was a way to maybe bring it back by force charging at a higher voltage but there was a risk involved. I said no to that and purchased a new battery, $780 later and I am dangerous again.
