the price of Chocolate Easter products, In woolworths thay have a Whittakers Kiwi shaped hollow chocolate egg 100 grams for $17, that makes the chocolate $170 a kilo. Im not sure who is doing the price gouging but come on.

My new roof leaked last night and woke to a sodden sofa and water everywhere. Carpets under all the south windows sodden. Debris flying outside. Oh joy. I’m sure there’s a lot worse out there and I really feel for those affected.

That really sucks. I don't believe in feeling better by comparing to those who feel worse. It just sucks, regardless. Sorry that happened to you.

Having been there a couple of years ago, I feel your pain - it doesn't help to compare yourself to those less fortunate - if anything it makes it more depressing because you're upset about "less extreme" issues.

It's not fun and I completely empathise.

At least it’s not mud. Been using my karcher window sucky machine it’s helped in sucking up water from the carpet but will need to lift it so it can dry underneath. Rug is easier and have a garden seat under it to allow airflow. We have a safe room set up with all we need in a storm but it doesn’t mitigate the damage you find on waking up.

The water got sucked inside via the frame because wind pushes the entire window so hard that it’s like a pump and water has gotten underneath, I can see it pumping in. It’s not a leaking rubbers issue. Am I guessing right that insurance won’t cover this type of thing and fix the windows.

Get someone like JAE out (via insurance) to dry the carpets ASAP - otherwise they'll not only start to stink the place up, but they'll also potentially damage the floors underneath. You may end up needing new sections of underlay, as we did.

Wind has broken our black boy peach tree in half overnight. Not sure if I will be able to save it. A shame because it was laden with fruit not yet ready to pick.

No way to wrap it and get it to a point where it may act like a "splice" and simply start to grow again?

In a 24 hour period our garden has been trashed. Roses destroyed and five trees down.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I think I have been lucky. Not sure yet. I keep finding things. Roof leaked, TV got wet and wouldn't come on but seems okay now after some time with hair dryer. Internet down for a time, now back. Lots of things to sort that got discombobulated while I was diagnosing problems. Big disorganised mess inside but no real damage. I think.

Are you still on HFC or moved to fibre finally?

I would not be trusting that TV anymore. If you are claiming for anything else add that to the claim.

The last few posts are a bit harrowing. It's one thing to look at the media and think "yeah well they're cherry-picking the worst bits". Although I know very few of you "in real life" I still feel like I know a lot of you, and it's a bit of a shock to learn that the weather is affecting things that much. I hope you all stay safe.
