People who don't write clearly.

"We're looking into using the agency effect to help redesign our website."

What in the world is the "agency effect"? I've heard of cause and effect, and the butterfly effect, but I have no idea what the agency effect is.

It turns out that Effect is the name of a company but she hasn't bothered to capitalise it.

Wouldn't you also want to insert a comma there, to pause between the word agency and the name of said agency?

I'm no expert in the England Lamwich, but I know a place for a comma and, that's always, where it, goes;

It is more far more likely it was correct in the first place and then 'corrected' out by some subsequent process. There may be some workarounds stop that issue, or not, depending on what process is mandated there.

That’s a fairly common affliction here on GZ.

Yes. I'll add, depends on the publication but, headlines are often not created by the writer of the article, and when created by the writer are often changed or edited later. This is why there are so many cases where the headline is not a good fit for the article. This has become increasingly true with the demands of online publication.

Random beeping noise in the office.

Seemingly random timing from about 2 to 7 minute intervals.  Approximately 3 second beep.

Multiple people can hear it, so it's not just in my head.  Multiple people have hunted for the source with no luck.  Been going for a few weeks now.

We can kinda locate the general vicinity its coming from but not pinpoint it.

In our house that's always either the fridge or a smoke detector.

Smoke detector is possible, though being a commercial building, they are wired in as opposed to the residential battery ones.

We used to have one of those in an office I worked in a few years back.

Turned out (after a LOT of investigation) that it was coming from within a locked HVAC "room" (more a large cupboard with stuff in it that helped the HVAC system operate on that floor).
Never did find out what the actual issue was.

The poor online offering available for delivery from Woolworths Napier, a city which boasts two branches of this supermarket located within 100 metres of one another.

I'm quite partial to a tiger stick from this brand. Seemingly a good portion of their in-store bakery range is currently listed as unavailable, yet Hastings has no such problem. Even the Waipukurau branch 60 km's down the road and servicing an urban population of less than 5000 people can sell me a bakery tiger stick.

I'm wondering what is the issue in Napier and how is the branch manager holding onto their job. Perhaps they should be less interested in preventing Foodstuffs taking over one of their central city sites and concentrate on providing one store that meets the needs of the population in 2026, rather than the two half-arsed ones we have now.

Asking the bakery manager nicely would be your first and best option.

Do your two Napier branches actually have an in-store bakery or are they trucking a limited range from Waipukarau?

I have a similar situation with two Woolworths. One has a larger range and technically is the smaller branch. I try to avoid the bakery section these days. The difference is not really an issue for me. The smaller branch has more of the things I buy anyway and is not 60km away.
