Good grief, even Panadol's been shrinkflated from 20 per box down to 16! The box is slightly shorter, but the main thing they've done is space out the tablets a bit further so that it still "looks" like you're getting a full tray.

I've noticed those. Looks like 20's are still available:

Looks like those are probably old stock since they're not available online and seem to only be able for pickup in limited locations.

I'm probably going to get another barrage of YouTube ads for Chemist Warehouse now that I've clicked on that.

Who buys Panadol? Get the generic e/g/ Ethics. It's the same stuff.

The generic stuff mostly doesn't have the nice coatings etc. That makes them harder to swallow for many people.

There was some size limits on non pharmacy packs because of self harm concerns.

Last time we were in the US (2019) I bought a 500 bottle of generic panadol for ~$50, we're still working our way through it.

Check the pack for its shelf-life - it’s likely to be expired after seven years.

Was that NZD or USD - but sounds expensive either way. You can buy 100 paracetamol from Bargain Chemist for $3.79 x 5 = $18.95.

However you can buy only 100 at a time over the counter ‘no questions asked’. If you want more than 100 in one purchase, you can discuss it with the pharmacist or get a script. Or go back a little later for more, or go to a pharmacy down the road - they don’t keep records.

At that price I wouldn’t be worried about shrinkflation.

there price of a 100 tablets of  generic paracetamol  for $3.50 just shows you how much Panadol is ripping you off

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I've used a range of generic brands over the years and have found them no less difficult to swallow than Panadol brand. Not sure how much truth there is to this.

I am elderly and generic has always worked fine for me. I never buy branded. It is just paying for the name.

I always fine paracetamol to be a placebo, asprin would always work for me for some headaches, and for any body ache then ibuprofen was what did the trick. Paracetamol seems to be about as effective as leaving it alone and it going away on its own.
