Yep. On the plus side it encourages the use of command line tools : ).

The number of times workflow is interrupted by some non-responsive file explorer condition. Any scenario with removable devices is a minefield of careful stepping..

Logged a high priority fault for a failure which had an interesting side effect - maybe the side effect would offer them some clue to the primary? Fault gets logged for the side effect then the priority gets reduced as a result. Thing is still broken.

Ticketmaster do you really need to check I'm not a robot just to show me the where and when of an event? I would not mind if it didn't take ages - but anyway can't that wait until I try to buy a ticket?

With the standard setup and with no effective competition, probably not.

Brent oil price dropped to $96 from $108 a barrel overnight and petrol went up 10 cents a litre go figure

Common sense is not as common as you think.

In another thread there was maybe an indication that NZ follows 'Dubai' grade specification but that could just have easily been an operator error. I have not looked into it

https://oilprice.com/oil-price-charts/#Dubai

Each grade has a different price dynamic. Sometimes it relates directly to the place of extraction sometimes not. I have no idea. That grade is obviously better/different in some way.

Watched a bit of Al Jazeera during my lunch break and there’s some numpty there giving justification for the attacks describing “death to Israel” as an ethos.  It’s political rhetoric, not at all what Iranians live by.

AJ has a guy Ross Harrison regularly for short bursts who has spent time with Iran's current generation of military leaders and a deep knowledge of their doctrine and decision making. Quiet guy and makes a lot more logic and sense than an average commentator type.

John19612:

Gregg's spices disappearing from all of the local Foodstuff supermarkets - for customer benefit of course.

This is part of the problem with just two major players. If one stops purchasing the brand and the other doesn't buy enough or cuts back the range, sooner or later it doesn't become commercially viable to carry on producing it so the supplier stops production then slowly, the NZ brands are replaced with overseas ones.

Is that reflective of widening income gaps?  One may normally buy their usual  Greggs but in an attempt to save money start trying out the house brands. Then those that are happy to pay for what should be a better quality product, pay premium for something that comes in plastic, cardboard and a cute little wooden clip.

Failure to move with the times imo. The market for spices has probably increased 50x since the 90s but I doubt they're selling 50x more product. and did not innovate in bundling, things like that. It's unfortunate.

The Warehouse for example could do a lot more unique to the cultural mix in NZ that Ikea and Kmart simply can't do and can_never_do.

Instead the Warehouse insist on trying to dress everyone like bogans* and can't reimagine the rest of the presentation. Sorry Warehouse I'm way too harsh there but you get the gist, I hope. I'm still a regular although I find I'm buying less.

*Edit: I hasten to add I think the ladies come out way way better than the men in that area ; ).

Outlook and Teams.

Get a meeting request or change in Outlook, open, deal with as needed.

Teams still has its own notification that needs to be separately dealt with in the Activity tab and 98% of the time is only saying "this meeting request has already been accepted or declined by you".

Instagram's about the same. First you get a notification that XYZ wants to follow you, so you click Approve, and then you get another notification that XYZ is now following you.

Have an iPhone that repeatedly failed restore through the "Apple Devices" app, on Windows.

Multiple computers, different cables, different USB ports.  Hotstpot on mobile data, and an additional two different ISPs.  All exactly the same 1109 06b4 0000 error

It wasn't until I set DNS to quad8 that it progressed.  What the heck?  I already had the image downloaded and it's fine.  The failure occurred when the iPhone was showing the update at around 60% completion, by way of the little progress bar that goes across the screen.

Prior to the successful update I ran a flushdns to see exactly what the update was looking for, and it's a bunch of domains like:

fcs-keys.g.aaplimg.com

fcs-keys-pub-prod.cdn-apple.com

wkms-public.v.aaplimg.com
