PET bottles of carbonated drink go flat in the refrigerator within a day of opening.
I am really annoyed at the shopping sites that keep systematically ripping me off because of my rural address. If the delivery services actually had to drive out here to deliver my packages it would be a different matter, but they don't.
What they do is hand the packages over to my rural postie in town. He then brings them out on his normal mail run. Every time. All the time. It has never happened any differently. Even packages that have to be signed for he signs and then delivers in the same way, leaving them in my mailbox.
What this means is courier packages are delivered in exactly the same way as normal post. There is no difference at all. Yet where normal post costs a dollar or two, I am charged eight or more (usually more, around 15 or so) solely because of my address. Today I received a roll of special repair tape. It cost a little over $20. Delivery cost around $15, bringing the total to $35. Often the postage on items I order is as much or more as the item. I am getting thorough fed up by this. It is a rip off, plain and simple.

The rural post service charges the other courier companies for that delivery. If you want to pay what urban people pay for delivery then don't choose to live rural.
What makes you think it is a choice? If the problem lies with the rural post service charge, it is still a rip off. I would be happy to have my orders sent by regular post at a fraction of the cost except that option is never offered by anyone. The chance of something getting stolen from my mailbox is no more or less and the chance of getting any kind of compensation from the post service is snowball in hell territory. They are using the same identical infrastructure they use for ordinary post, just charging me four times more. It is a rip off, pure and simple.

The difference exists because regular (letter) mail is regulated, its a flat rate to send anywhere in the country.
Parcels and packages are not regulated, (and likely never will be)
So unfortunately unless someone offers to run a competing cheaper delivery service to your letterbox , its going to be a case of "suck it up buttercup"

I know that. I also know package delivery is worse in Gaza. It still pisses me off.

Its a choice because no-one is allocated housing, this is not a totalitarian state where you need to get approval to relocate.
Businesses chose a single freight supplier that gives them the tools and pricing that they need to be compeditive. Generally there is an expectation of being an exclusive service in use unless you get to be a really large player. There is also the lack of services offered by the post products from NZ Post like coverage for many items, and it works out a lot more expensive in most cases to use than a commercial rate from an actual courier company. Plus they would have to pay staff time to drop it off as collection is only offered on courier products from NZ post, which again, have a rural surcharge.
I cant angle grind in my garage at 9pm because I choose to live in an urban area where I can get courier services to my door, decent internet, and several pizza and curry places within a 5 min drive from me. You live in a place that delivers services and has features that you need. If you value not paying extra and having slower delivery, the solution is to not live where you have to pay that.
A couple or three courier companies insist on charging rural fees for our address. We're not rural. NZ Post don't consider us rural, and thankfully most of the other courier companies agree. Unfortunately, when you order online you don't usually get to choose which company is used for delivery.
People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.
Keep calm, and carry on posting.

No matter where you go, there you are.
So you often end up maybe panic buying a worse seat than you wanted only to later see better ones available again after people released them on seeing the price.
If they would just release a map with the prices before the sale opens you would know which section to go for. But aswell as keeping the prices secret beforehand, you can't even see them quickly and easily once you're in the sale.

You are putting the lid back on before putting them in the fridge, right?
Yes, firmly.
Tom Gibley, on his wine channel on YouTube, ran an experiment on opened champagne bottles. He put three in the fridge for four days. One with a stopper, one with a spoon and one with nothing. After four days they were all the same.

If I did not live where I do, I would have to live in a car. Not much of a choice.

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them.
