The whole process is painful. Nobody reads the listings, they all ask the same stupid questions and they all want to trade 3 shekels and a goat instead of paying cash.

In my observation the people who ask questions aren't usually the people who buy. I don't answer questions. I don't often have trouble with time wasters, post auction hagglers or unreliable people either.

But I have found, living in a small town, that selling stuff online often isn't worth it. Small market, not enough demand and low prices. Donating stuff isn't that much less lucrative and it has fewer steps.

Let’s just say there are some cultural differences between selling stuff in Dubai and the top of the South Island.

Ah I have my own strategies for this. Usually involves a massive lock of the rear tyre and a couple of weaves to make it look like I won't stop and then a whoa, you guys are in the middle of the trail. I nearly couldn't stop. I did have mini melt down on the new steep bit of ONS where I'd popped over the top at Mach Ten and someone was walking their bike down. I suggested they get off the trail rather urgently and loudly and probably not politely as I was not going to be able to stop on that chute.

That new chute on ONS has stopped a number of people in their tracks as it's steep and requires a certain amount of confidence to drop into.

It's quite poorly thought out on a popular and regularly ridden trail

AA insurance and their emails.

They send an email telling me there is an important document attached, and then put a damn PDF with the actual message on the email, formatted for printing on A4 paper so annoying to read on screen when they could have just put things in the email body and forgotten about the stupid PDF. Its the kind of thing that an elderly person would like because they could print it out needlessly and put it in a box to keep it, but to a normal person its just more steps to read what they have to say in a worse way.

By the time I had sorted that error out, the only presale allocated tickets left were $238 per ticket.

That's about $200 more than I was planning on paying per ticket.

Quite annoying.

Apparently a football club dropped the singular code on a social media site and there have been non-members and scalpers buying lots of 10 at a time.

Wonderful stuff from Ticketmaster and A-Leagues as usual. Bloody hopeless. And not AFC's fault.

Did you manage to get tickets in the general sale? Really awful that the code got shared and some members potentially missed out. Don’t know whose fault it is (I guess Ticketmaster) but it should have bee a unique link for members or maybe your membership number as a password instead of just some code that anyone could use if they got hold of it.

I’m actually going up to Auckland from Wellington this weekend for something else and managed to get tickets in the general sale yesterday. Massive football fan (though not of either team involved) so was pretty keen to go the occasion of a final once I realised it was happening while I’m up there.

As an aside, where’s the best place to try and park if driving? Not been to Mt Smart for quite a few years and public transport looks too hard (no train option and multiple bus transfers) from where we’re staying (which is a bit far out with the original reason for the trip in mind). Would it be someone selling parking on O’Rorke Road?

Didn't get any tickets in the end. Pretty gutted to be honest.
Tickets just disappeared as I was trying to add them to my cart. Been to most games this season including the wet and cold and windy days where hardly anyone but the diehards turned up.
But I am not the only member to have missed out on tickets, so it is what it is.

Have booked a table at a pub in town who is showing the game and will spend the ticket money on booze and food with a couple of friends and my wife.

Parking will be a fun challenge, but if you can get near the stadium, you'll find a lot of companies selling their carparks for between $20 and $30 hopefully.

Ah sorry to hear that. Feel a bit guilty going if members and regulars have missed out but I didn't know the code had been shared and went for the general sale when I'd assumed members were all sorted. I see there's talk of adding more temporary seats though so there might still be a chance.

Incredibly annoying as a lifelong fan.
The club were complicit in the cheating scandal, the manager knew it was happening and the punishment is way out of proportion for the "crime".
The fans have been really let down here. As have the players.
It's especially annoying when you consider that 2 years ago (or more) Manchester City (backed by the Oil Barons) were charged with 115 counts of misconduct/financial misconduct/etc etc.
There's been no sanctions, no consequences. In fact the opposite has happened. They've won titles, cups, played in Europe, made hundreds of millioins and bought the best players on the planet.

Saints are thrown out of the playoff final, docked 4 points next season and will likely lose players, staff and income (Premier League promotion alone is worth £115,000,000)

Ah well...it's just sport

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, Rikkitic, the 'print it out needlessly and put it in a box to keep' describes my father (about to turn 90) so perfectly that I LOLed when I read it. Does that make me a horrible person?

Teahouse is what I've heard people call those. But infuser seems to be the current term.

Also good for keeping control of whole spice (star anise, cardamon etc) in a curry or casserole, so they don't become hidden hazards.

Nope, my Uncle who recently passed was similar, and was steadfastly against anything financial coming via e-mail/etc. On the one hand, just wasteful (think of the poor trees!!11), on the other it's made helping my mum with his estate so much easier. We found bank records for the last few years/etc for instance, easy to find customer numbers for all the essential accounts and services, so it made contacting those that needed to be contacted so much easier. I did however scan all the relevant ones so it was easier for us to piece things together because that is what we're both used to now.

Because of his ways, the only second-guessed "We think you might have a record for him" notification we had to do was the Passports Office, because while we didn't think they'd care about his passport/whatever from his military days, we found an application form for one.

It's made me think about how much of a hassle it would be to handle estates for parents/children these days if you're not aware of all the accounts they might have. (I've actually started a document for myself with a list with the basics (customer numbers/etc) to make it easier, just need to figure out how to store it so the right people can find it whenever the time comes).

Regarding the thing that started this bit off, I think it's important to realise that these companies do still have to do the printed documents for some customers, and adapting systems to a purely digital first is more expensive than wrapping an emailer around the document generation systems they've had in place for many years.

I wish everyone would go digital first. I can't think of single report or statement or letter I'd rather have in physical form. Our mailbox mostly collects leaves and junk mail (despite signs). I'd rather not have one at all.

It sseems like attaching a PDF is nowadays a standard thing for power companies and banks and the like. :(

Its bloody annoying as the line breaks are fixed in the PDF, it has excessive padding around it and means I have to zoom and scroll left to right, line by line to read this exciting important information which basically comes down to my direct debit didnt go thru but they will retry it again next week. 3 lines of useful content on a PDF full of logos, advertising, address and phone number details and other worthless crap padding the size out.
