Whilst I agree with your sentiment, Rikkitic, the 'print it out needlessly and put it in a box to keep' describes my father (about to turn 90) so perfectly that I LOLed when I read it. Does that make me a horrible person?
Not at all. People do that. What I am objecting to is the stereotypical assertion (and implied put-down) that only old people do it and it is a marker of age. Some do, some don't. I, for example, don't and I am not that much younger than your father. I am also in no way exceptional.
Stereotypes are a lazy substitute for thought. They can also lead to dangerous assumptions. I object to them as a matter of principle and call them out where I can. I am also guilty of this, of course. But I try to at least know when I am doing it.
