The fact that new public buildings constructed using low-wage labor require comprehensive renovation after just 15 to 20 years suggests either that this is deliberately factored in from the start, or that opting for the cheapest bidder eventually comes back to haunt you.

Me. I have been waiting for a call from a specialist occupational therapist for two months. My phone rings and I have left the sodding thing at the other end of the house. I desperately try to reach it with success. Try to ring back and it goes to answer phone.

Just knocked my glasses off the bathroom cabinet with my towel as I got out of the shower then proceeded to stand on them and snap the arm off.
Annoying, as I wear them every minute that I am awake.

I feel your pain. I have broken glasses several times. I now always get two sets each time I need new glasses.

I'll be ordering a second pair using the prescription from this visit from Zenni.
They can be my "cheap spares".

The ones I have would be $1000+ if I were to get them from Specsavers.

These will be my third pair in 4 years, after mishaps and losses.

I got myself two biscuits from the pack to have with my afternoon tea. I finished the first and went to grab the second to find no second biscuit. I’d already eaten both but I don’t remember eating two so now I feel slightly dissatisfied and feel like I need to go back to the pantry to grab a third.

Some numpty no nuts that keeps leaving a gibberish google review that’s targeted not at us but at one of our customers. Google seems to be deleting the review as fast as it’s posted, before I can even react to the emailed new review notification fortunately.  Used to be once a year or so that it would appear, now it’s a few times a week.

Ah yes, the old "ran out before I was finished" issue.  Happens to drinks, snacks, energy etc.

Just crank up your nuclear power plants and put your air conditioning on. Oh no, wait…..

(Meanwhile a high of 12 expected here and South Island passes closed by snow.)

Got to 46 here in Christchurch today. Oops, sorry that is F not C.

I believe that air conditioning is not overly common in Europe? Is that the case?

Nope. We just stay out of the direct sunlight. The walls of traditional houses are massive, keeping warm in winter, keeping cool in summer. Here in my office are just 24°C, without any air conditionig, but fans.

When customer support goes something like this -

Me: Hi, when I try to do x, your thing does y.  I need x to happen because the next step will allow me to do w.

Support [noreply at useless outfit]: Dear valued customer, thank you for reaching out to us and I'm so sorry you've had an unpleasant experience with our service.  This has fallen well short of our expectations and we especially appreciate that you have taken the time to let us know of this problem.  We remain committed to providing good outcomes.  It appears that you're trying to do x and instead we are providing you with y.  The contents of y is 47.  Thank you and have a lovely day.

No doubt that company saves an incredible amount of time and money with automated email replies and a network of responsive service agents. I'm guessing the people who decide to pay for the product or service and the people who actually have to use the darn thing are very different people ; ).
