The wind. Sick of the noise. We left the living room last night and moved into what I call the safe room that I have set up for storms has an old TV and comfy sofas and small enough to keep cosy with less noise and fear of a window getting blown in.  Frustration with trying to stream/cast an episode that kept stopping every minute. 

I may be getting to the bottom of my PC's Black Screen of Death. It only seems to happen if I've done a normal cold restart and haven't woken it from sleep at least once. Once it's woken from sleep mode, it seems to hold its own quite nicely.

I feel your pain. I have broken glasses several times. I now always get two sets each time I need new glasses. 

 

I'll be ordering a second pair using the pres⁴cription from this visit from Zenni. 
They can be my "cheap spares". 

The ones I have would be $1000+ if I were to get them from Specsavers. 

These will be my third pair in 4 years, after mishaps and losses. 

 

This should probably be in the small things that make you smile thread but is relevant to the above posts. So here goes.

I had the misfortune to wake up one morning about 3 months ago to find the nylon fishing line style strap that holds the lenses in place had broken on one frame and the lens was lying loose. They are a rimless style with no bottom rim.

My glasses are left at night on the bedside table upside down with the wings open. I can only guess I must have banged the glasses with my hand during the night.

I took them to Specsavers and they repaired them free of charge. In fact I suspect they swapped the lenses and gave me new frames as I know there were new nose pads and new wings as well as the repaired lens strap. There's not a lot left after you've replaced those bits.

Then about three weeks ago I'd inadvertently left the glasses on the bed while getting ready for bed and they fell onto the floor beside the bed. I had to get out a short while later and stood on them. One lens was dislodged. Back to Specsavers the next day where they refitted the lens. Once again no charge. 

Specsavers glasses may be a bit pricier than the online ones, but you cannot complain about their service.

My main annoyance with the likes of OPSM or Specsavers is the cost of putting new lenses into your favourite frames (when you've updated your prescription) is far more expensive than buying new ones outright - which feels incredibly wasteful and unnecessary. 
If they aren't going to supply lenses at a reasonable price vs the whole package, I'll go elsewhere for far less.

Yup - for my main pair, I'll always go to a local, reputable Optometrist where I can get decent aftersales service. 
For a spare pair or cheap Rx sunglasses, I'll go online and consider them effectively disposable.

I'm similar.  I'll usually invest in good, multifocal clear glasses from Specsavers.  Then, I take the prescription elsewhere for general sunglasses and I usually get pair of Seaspecs too.

They provided it without delay and without issue. 
Probably because they had already got their money's worth out of me. 

Some smaller private Optometrists will not provide it unless it's being asked for by an optometrist from overseas or similar for an emergency. 

Surely you have a right to your medical data when requested from them?

Yes, no issues with Specsaver, and OPSM give you your prescription on a wallet card.

New (interim) glasses were delivered today. 
FedEx courier slung them onto the deck using the ranch slider as a backboard. 
They must’ve flown 10m before coming to rest. 
glad there was some bubble wrap inside.
