I'd be annoyed by anything being given the red banner treatment that's not a civil emergency or breaking (and very important) news.

Forward a detailed email for a previous order to a shop asking if they can supply updated pricing and their reply is asking what is it I'm asking for pricing on :/

New owner too, so I'm a bit concerned that they'll stuff it up.

Ticket logged with vendor when version X was current. Vendor then releases version Y. Issue confirmed to still exist in version Y. Ticket updated with comment that it's still broken in Y. Six months later, the vendor closes the ticket with "this is for version X which is now out of support". Latest patch update for version Y still exhibits the issue.

I do not use a phone like most people. I am elderly and while I can use it if I have to, I am not comfortable with it. I prefer email for communications, which has always worked well for me.

A couple years ago I acquired my very first phone. I had never felt a need for one before, but as I aged I thought it might be a good idea for safety reasons. It has also become virtually essential for making appointments.

My annoyance is the presumption by those I make appointments with that just because I have a phone, that is how I should be communicated with. My phone is for appointments and emergencies only! That is how I prefer to use it. Email is the way to communicate with me. It always has been. I keep my phone turned off when not in use. I wish people would not just assume they can send me messages on it that I will see. It would not be an annoyance if they would just bother to ask!

This is also an annoyance for my parents, who are in their mid-80's

They prefer a phone call or an email, but get texts and app requests etc,

They don't know how apps work, entirely. They're not tech-illiterate, but they are pretty close.

I am the same. I rarely answer unscheduled phone calls because I am too busy, so email is my preferred method of communication.

I check the instant messages on my phone once or twice a week and have started to notice more businesses using this to communicate without first checking whether I actually use it. Recently I saw a message in there from my dermatologist, asking me to do something in advance of my appointment but my appointment had already been and gone by the time I saw the message. In the end it didn't seem to matter.

Worst are places that want you to confirm by replying to their shortcode at your cost. They could send me a link, they could send me an email to reply to, but no, I get a SMS that will possibly cost me to reply to.

For those on Prepay who don’t bank a couple dollars extra at top up it can mean if there’s a few shortcodes replied to there is not enough money to cover the next prepay period so calls go on to standard rates because the short codes have chewed up part of the next top up balance.

Many oldies don’t understand why they’ve lost their top up balance which has fast dwindled down to nothing and they are calling at the 49c standard rate and being texted they don’t have enough to make a call. Have had a few people burnt this way, it’s hard to explain and they lose trust.

Wow, who could possibly have seen this coming? Well, for years - decades even - we've been putting up with "management speak" in the workplace from managers, HR drones and executive-type-people. This workslop is just that same management speak being regurgitated by AI. The same AI that our employers are encouraging us to use. 🙄
