I've been walking to work but due to some overexuberance at the gym, I have a calf muscle tear (new PB though!).

But wait ... I can get I can get public transport.  The bus stop is only a 10-minute walk from my house 😃. The first bus leaves at 9:13am 🙁.  It takes me 20 minutes to drop about 8 minutes from the office😱.  So a total trip of 38 minutes to avoid an 8-minute drive🤬.

Public transport in Blenheim is clearly targeted at school kids and retired people.

What a gut punch that must have been @MikeB4. Hopefully it is mild and will stay that way while research continues and new drugs and techniques develop. AI is bound to speed this up substantially. So sorry this is happening to you.

Thanks for your kind words. It surely is a gut punch.

Second day at Welly hospital. The ground floor unisex toilets near the reception are disgusting. They were disgusting wet floor and paper on the floor yesterday and are compounded today. Revolting that you walk out and leave wet footprints everywhere. Reported it today. Ok they should be cleaned a few times a day, but why do people make this kind of mess.

I'm not suggesting this is in any way OK and agree with the sentiment about people leaving such a mess (I had the same experience in Rotorua hospital a few months ago), but this is very much a symptom of a mis-/under-funder health system in NZ.

I would argue that it's more a case of lacking personal responsibility.  At work we've had a large contractor based project and had to have numerous reminders to all on the floor to not be disgusting with the use of the facilities.

I don't understand how people can make so much mess while relieving themselves.

Poorly designed handwashing facilities are sometimes a contributor to water on the floor. In some cases the taps need an inline flow limiter to avoid pressure splash. You know those taps that hit your pants front on the first use..

Tiny sinks are another one.

The area around the sinks was the least problematic.  Other than the trail of liquid soap from the dispenser to the sinks, but that's just a design issue.

Along the same lines, my work decided to shorten the automatic bathroom paper towel length, from approx 30cm to about 20cm, in a misguided attempt to save paper..

So now you need 2 lengths of the shorter length to properly dry your hands  and a corresponding larger amount of used tissues in the waste bins...

Wanted to check New World gift card balance and had to sign in to Club+ first. What a load of BS.

I skipped much of the hassle of the app by ordering a physical card.

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. This was just to check the balance on a gift card though. Someone without a Club account would have to sign up to see what they have left on it. Crazy

They are a weird fruit like that.  They don't ripen while still on the tree so it's a guess as to when to pick them.  If they were ready, they'll ripen, if not, no ripe avo for you.
