I dont know if i can be of anyhelp other than sharing my belief that the electromagnetic cancer causing studies are usually biased and run by hippies who smoked too much of the bad stuff earlier in life and has stunted their brain and thinking power, putting a high level of fear into their personality.

This was once fear of the cops coming to search their house for their plants, but in their older, professional lives it manifests itself as a fear that cancer causing radiation can come from anything electronic.

Sad thing is that when they finish one of their public rants, when announcing some study they did to back up their misguided argument, that other hippies listen to them, and the fear spreads.

For me, it comes down to the point that I know many retired radio engineers and electricians in their 70's - 80's who are still rather healthy after a life of working near high powered transmission antennas and power lines all their lives.

I think a cool thing to would be:
- Get a fluorescent tube
- Hold one end of it
- Go outside at night, and watch it glow under the lines!

I think this will only work if there isn't anything else higher than the fluoro tube nearby, i.e. the house. I could be wrong though.?

You can also do this with a tube if you have one of those plasma globes. You just hold the tube close to it and it glows.

It would be freaky if you llved under transmission lines, and your lights in the house stayed on, even after you had switched them off, although it would save a lot on power.

Maybe original Op has fluoro lights in the garage? If so, they should check them tonight, see if they are glowing :)

hehe. no sadly when we moved we threw those lights away as they were no use! But if those lights can be lit up, then it must be really bad for humans to live under the lines! right??

Also, sometimes the house makes a big crack noise probably because of the lines. Because it is above my bedroom i can always hear it go off in the morning. :P

Energy saver bulbs are also fluorescent, so should also glow under the same conditions.

Energy saver bulbs are also fluorescent, so should also glow under the same conditions.

Oh! Our whole house is with Energy savers. Then they don't work in the garage lol.

Personally I am in two minds. I think that there is a possibility, but then again there is a possibility that anything you do could cause these diseases. Usually people that carry out the research have a vested interest in the subject either for or against , so they are not impartial.
I recall from memory that there was a case in Oz a few years ago, of a very high percentage of the woman working in an office building next to a tv broadcast tower that developed the same type of rare disease. But it would be very difficult to prove either way what the cause is.

It could possibly affect you the same as just having normal electrical wiring running through your walls, no one really knows. But people have been living under wires for over 50 years, and there haven't been any major news headlines of the dangers. People don't really know what external influences cause these diseases, but over time have found out that smoking and asbestos can be two causes.
