My bug-crazy 8-year-old son was showing a freshly-captured female praying mantis to some uncles, aunties and cousins last weekend.

"How do you know it's a female?" a relative asked

"Because of it's big fat butt!" he replied perfectly matter-of-factly

Much laughter and strange looks at his Dad occured :)

At the supermarket with Miss C1 and Master C2.

Miss C1 was pushing the trolley and crashed into a lady.

I sharply say to Miss C1 "What do you say!!", wanting her to apologise.

Her quick retort "C2 did it".

The blatant lie when I had expected an apology was hilarious.

So my Son (3.5) and I have been playing a game where we will say to each other:

I love you... "insert random word"

The way this game works is trying to list as many things as possible that relate to the last thing. So:

I love you... Oranges Might be followed by I love you "apples" etc. It's been a lot of fun.

Today I went over to him and he was busy playing and I said.. I love you "Brocolli".

His response: I love you.... "later".

Gave everyone a great laugh! Next time I'll watch he isn't so busy when I start playing with him.

Mr nearly 3 dropping his voice a couple of octaves when he does his "Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas everybody" Santa impersonation is hysterically cute.

One child when aged about 5, while visiting Bastion Point, walking around the gardens, said in a pleasant voice "This would be a beautiful place to die" (!) having just looked at the Savage memorial.

Youngest child, when 3 years old, after some coaching from the older ones, jumped into the lounge with full jazz-hands and shouted "F?čKERS!"

Good times.

The oldest, back when he was toilet training, dropped the lid of the loo and slammed his penis - he immediately came running and asked me to kiss it better.

So today we had something which was both funny and a little mortifying happen. For the last few days my 14 month old Kaitlin has been bum shuffling (See video which isn't her but shows it), saying "bubble (or so we thought). Today it dawned on me that she isn't actually saying Bubble, but "Trouble" which is what I say when I see her especially if she has a smelly nappy or is crying when she is supposed to be sleeping. I felt pretty bad she is wondering around pointing at herself saying Trouble!

At 18 months, our daughter started to show her sense of humour. When she wanted something like a book off the shelf, she would point at it and say, 'Can't reach it. Book. Can't reach it' and we would get it down for her.

Her comfort toy was some ribbons sewn together at one end, called 'roo-roo'. Once, she asked for roo-roo? We pointed at them on the floor a couple of metres away. She looked at the roo-roo, looked back at us, got a sly look on her face and said 'Can't reach it.'
