keewee01: What a pain! But I have to say that their being parked like that does not absolve you of responsibility for hitting their cars, especially if the one behind you was legally parked - you'd definitely be liable for any damage to their car!

But I can relate. Here is Ashburton the dumb and stupid council have created some lovely car size car parks... literally - they are car sized. (they tried to cram as many parking spots as possible between 2 commercial driveways) Have ended up trapped in on previously after parking there and then someone filling the car park behind me (one in front already occupied). I now just won't park in those parks and instead use the luxurious sized parks down the street.

While in Ashburton earlier in the week I decided to treat myself to parking on the main street, 10 cents for 10 minutes? Just Awesome! Great wee town.

Calling the local council is the best option during working hours, after hours most councils don't have parking wardens though so they'll refer you to the Police. Unless the Police can contact the registered owner and request they move it than you may just have to sit put until the drive turns up sadly.

Parking is cheap here - and parks along the main street (East Street) are good size, but on the side streets they fluctuate wildly in size.

I wish I hadn't of taken a different way home on Friday, I should have traveled past the site to see if the car had blocked in anyone else. It will be another two weeks before I am back in the same area trying to park.
