OK ... now if you are actually interested in the show and are an adult you have seen it by now. But there are probably some kids out there who haven't seen it because their parents don't think it is suitable, too much sex and violence, but don't have access to it via Sky or download.
Sure, that's a small niche market but I think it probably exists.
So on reflection maybe this isn't the completely stupid idea it at first appears.

I'm a fan of the books originally, started reading them after I found a first edition hardcover of the first book in a bargain bin for $10 way back in '97. I flicked through a few pages and thought it was well written, so got it and never looked back. Love the books and the show, awesome stuff! About time there was a thread here!

You just summed up exactly why I have lost many hours in second hand bookshops and the book sections of op-shops where there are still some hidden treasures.
I have read the first book and loved it. Off Arty Bees to see if they have a used copy of book two.
I had to read through the wiki to get caught up on the history of the 'houses' and everyones relationship to one another. A lot of characters and back story to know. But that just makes it all the more interesting. Great show.

It wasn't a second hand store at all though! Was in Hamilton, can't for the life of me remember which store (I think they're closed now). Was brand new about 6months after the book first launched from memory. Had never heard of it, just completely lucked out after a skim read and thinking "that looks like it might be decent, what's to lose for $10?"
But yes, those kinds of finds are what has compelled me to spend many hours in second hand stores too down the years.
Double damn lucky there mate. My ultimate dream would be finding a first edition of The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. Yes it's not hugely known, but it's one of those books that has been with me most of my life.
That and the Hobbit :D
I do have an Advance Uncorrected Proof copy of Sara Douglas' Threshold though.
