So I'm utterly addicted to Game of Thrones.
Trawling through the books right now and marathoned season 1 in a weekend.

The cast members for Season three have just been announced and talk about wow!

http://winteriscoming.net/2012/07/season-three-casting-announced/

It is going to be altogether epic :D

p.s. if this is the wrong forum for this post, please move. Wasn't too sure where movie/tv show posts went.

Take the completely OTT sex & violence out of it, and it just felt like a soap opera with way too many characters. It failed to grab me at all.

I watched the first four episodes and stopped... It just didn't grab my attention, that's all.

It didn't grab me immediately, but after half a dozen episodes I quite liked it.

I found 1st season really good, 2nd season was good but didnt meet my expectation as much. Hopefully 3rd would be better.

I think that makes this so different though is that while it's based on the fantasy premise, it's very political and very family orientated. Yes ok there's sex and violence but considering the setting, it's to be expected. Sex was often used as a weapon, and as for th violence, hello? :)

Give it a chance to those who only watched a few episodes. If you're not hooked by the 5th episode then it's not meant to be for yea!

I enjoy the short clips but have managed only a few quarter episodes so far. It is rare to have good entertainment on TV so I envy those enjoying it. For me it is just not medieval in enough depth around the relationships.

I'll be hanging out for season 3 too, but in all honestly, nothing will compare with the final double season of Breaking Bad this year

I'm holding off watching it, plus playing the 6x games I got off the Steam sale, till I pass my CCNA tomorrow.

And if I fail it, it'll be another week+ before I can resit :(

I have moved across the ditch.  Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

We got totally addicted to it also. It's a bummer that there is such a big break between seasons, but will just have to live with that.

yeah 255 days (or so) til season 3.

Probably 9 more years til GRRM gets round to finishing Winds of Winter...

It took me pretty much the entire season to get into it, only because there's so many characters (and their relationship to the rest of them) to keep up with, it's a bit of an effort and I can see how that could be off-putting. Nobody wants to put effort into sitting on the couch and staring at the telly!

But now it's my favourite show next to Doctor Who.

The TV show seems to be more heavy on the bad language and sexual content. I'm 250 pages through the first book and don't recall seeing a single expletive. I'm roughly up to the same place with my second viewing of season one and there's been heaps of swearing. Joffrey using the C word didn't happen in the scene with the butcher boy at all.

My very metal Doctor Who theme

I quite like the language, sex and violence. Adds reality to it. Big fan, can't wait for season 3!

The Blu Ray Season 1 disk set came with a very handle fold out of all the family trees. We still occasionally refer back to it.

Yeah just saw the cast announcement for Season 3 and pretty chuffed to see Paul Kaye thrown into the mix. Comic actors make for brilliant dramatic ones, and he's always been up there, despite being extremely underrated.

I've always loved the books so I was hooked from the get-go. The makes have done brilliantly well to translate the huge volumes into a succinct and coherent TV series. Cannae wait for next year but yeah in the mean time I'll have Breaking Bad to keep me company.
