are you able to get someone in who can talk in both languages?.. maybe have a sit down & explain the situation see if you can resolve the problem..

i had a neighbour like that a couple months back ( i have 6 neighbours :) )..  one neighbour would have partys all the time so at 6am the next morning the 2nd neighbour would take the muffler off their lawnmower and park it on the boundry between them for an hour or so ... needless to say this didn't fix anything and neighbour 2 has now moved out & the other people don't have loud partys anymore - fun & games eh?

Is their electricity fuse box on the outside of their house ?  Hard to have loud music when somehow all the fuses to your house have disappeared ....

cokemaster: While everyone is talking about escalating the issue and trying to make the neighbors life hell - perhaps you should consider what has already been suggested.... when they're at their worse, get noise control to come over and take measurements (within your home too if possible). Remember that if this fails, do it in writing so you have a nice paper trail to show any inaction. Consider faxing your complaints to noise control if they don't respond so you get a nice paper receipt with the time and date on it.
Also consider sending a letter to your neighbor outlining your concerns with their volume.

If nessecary look up what the 'excessive noise levels' are for your area are and take measurements yourself. Document everything.

If you escalate the issue, sure it might work. However it may (and probably will) just get a reaction from the neighbors (ie. starting a 'war' or them just increasing the volume). Taking matters into your own hands generally results in a worse situation.

How do I measure to see what the volume of their noise is?.

This is just what I would be doing, maybe… I may have over looked something but I don’t care, it is good enough for 5 minutes effort.

1) Find all relevant by-laws regarding sound pollution, for the city of which you live, and more specifically your zoning.

2) Hire a contractor to measure the noise at times that you consider to be of contention (I wouldn’t go choosing the one the council is using...) Make sure that you obtain a written report from this contractor, that states; 1) The level of noise over the covered period* and 2) Whether or not these are in breach of city by-laws.

*Ideally get him to cover a four-week period (i.e. one incident per week), so that you can prove there is a trend in the way your neighbour behave.

*Tell the contractor in a “round-about way”, the outcome you are expecting... I will leave that to you to be creative with.

3) Then head on over to the Disputes Tribunal with…
- Your report from the contractor
- Your testimonial
- A copy of the city by-laws
- Your proposed solution – now be reasonable, you have to realise that there is going to need to be compromise at both sides for this dispute to be finalised.

Here are a couple of links that will help you go through the Disputes Tribunal process…

Good luck with finding a compromise with your neighbour.

Find a friend who has a real powerful car stereo and park it right next to the fence on your noisy neghbour's side and blast it. That won't cost you anything and your friend can show-off.

And noise-control can't confiscate it if its mobile and drives away suspiciusly 20 seconds before noise control turn up.

HAHA!!! Thanks for the suggestion but I wouldn't want to do that, they can always take down the licence plate number anyway.  Thanks for all of your suggestions and I am taking the one about the measuring the noise levels from a professional into consideration thanks allot :)

Hey everyone

I have good news :D:D like 4 days ago our next door neighbors had their music up sooo loud we had to get noise control out twice and then after that day it's been very quite from the next door neighbors which is a relief but we do hear the occasional loud noise but not for long only for like 10 seconds at the most.

Nice outcome (hopefully) We have 2 really noisy neighbours, the thing is that they live down a long drive way and noise control takes their readings from the road :/...
Does someone have a guide on making a mini EMP?

Hey our neighbour's son is a drummer and has a drum set and probably his own band in his garage. They practice quite often.
And even the garage door is closed it's very closed to our living room's window, approx less then 10 meter. So what can I say?

Last time I almost went over it was 11PM and he was practicing. But he did once at 8AM Saturday morning and woke me up.
I am not against it (I played on bass guitar when I was young), but now I'd like to enjoy watching tv at 11PM.
Maybe I am too old for this, haha. (I am 33 BTW)

No offence, but where can I buy dynamite?

I is a kollege stoodent. Bee nice.
