Seriously. I don't understand all the hating on Li-Ion batteries. How many planes have been downed by a burning battery anyway? I'm guessing the number is the same as the number of ships that have been sunk by them - zero.

Some years ago (in the States) sent a whole EV's worth of LiIon batteries back to a supplier via UPS. For days afterwards we were getting calls from the courier company wanting to know what we'd shipped... whilst we all denied being the shipping signatory, as 'he was out'.

It took about 10 days for UPS to send an actual person to our location, who after introducing themselves told us that the UPS Truck with our packages had been stolen!!!

Much relief all round.....
(As a side note: An earlier 'thermal-event' with products from the same supplier did almost sink a ship... caused many $100k's worth of damage, which I was later lead to believe resulted in a recall. At the time though it was a mutual learning curve.)

Thanks. Even if Li-Ion batteries are prohibited, I will use this service. It's cheaper than shipito.com and certain products like SSD from amazon that do not ship to NZ will be a steal via youshop.

Sure the "non battery" thing is a downside, but the service is still something that can be very handy for a myriad of other items.

We are looking at resolving the lithium ion battery issue. Indeed, it does preclude people from purchasing some pretty sought after items. We are confident of resolving this and we will get back to you as soon as we have a solution.

That's good to hear. If that restriction goes away then I could look at this as a serious competitor to Shipito.

Does anyone know where in the US the warehouse is? I'm wondering how much US sales tax we'd be stung for.

I guess the service is cheap due to slow delivery targets. From Youshop's website. Could very well take up to 2 weeks all up incl from retailer in US to Youshop then to you in NZ

Your parcel should take approximately 7-11 working days for delivery (not including the time taken to clear Customs), from when it leaves our USA warehouse to when it arrives at your nominated delivery address here in New Zealand. These times are targets only, and delivery to rural addresses may take longer.
