jonherries: I/we are driving to Gisborne, does that count as the end of the world? Or is that the end of the earth?

Jon

Depends on if it's a one-way or two-way driving expedition.

I will be at work...so I think that means the end has already come, and I am in hell already.

Some great reading from the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ) on the effect of the Mayan apocalypse on survival outcomes in clinical trials :)

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

I've had my drink to toast the end of the world which according to some is in a few hours. Off to bed now - if I don't wake up I guess that means the world has ended.

kendo: oh 21st? I thought its like the 31st

No. You're getting the "end of the year" mixed up with the "end of the world". It's a common mistake.

David.

Best thread I have read in GZ for ages, pity I am too hungover to be witty.

End of the world, again already.....
Something else I've missed.

Guess I'll just have to get over it.

Last night decided to see what's on Igloo and surfing The National Geographic channel I spent 30 minutes of my life watching a program about preppers.

First was this 15 and 14 old boys who were recruiting a third member of their "survival" team. The test was to find shelter for the night and make fire. Hmmm. Fail in both.

Then this guy who gets his family (wife and five kids, why do they always reproduce in volumes) who trains every month for an outbreak of smallpox, dispatched to Utah by Al Qaeda (why are all these crazy folks in Utah? I mean the preppers, not Al Qaeda).

The wife says she doesn't believe much but "entertain" her husband. He gets everyone in the lounge, load food into a semi-trailer truck, a portable chicken coop with his chicken, thirteen guns including assault rifle and he wants to be out of the house before the Army and National Guard block the roads leaving out of Salt Lake City. He will drive to the mountains.

For this program he asked friends to do a mock stop on the way out, pretending to be Army soldiers to give it a more realistic scenario.

Depressing seeing how people can be stupid.

Woo Hoo I survived the end of the world and got a badge for my surviving skills - Thanks Mauricio and congrats to all other lucky survivors.

Well if the world didn't end we can at least all believe that we have entered a "New Age" as we enjoy Christmas!
